Connect the negative last to the dead car on a ground, not the battery.

With the vehicle s running your going to get 14.5 to 13.5 +or- .5 VDC when the dead vehicle is running just disconnect the ground, 1-2 min won't hurt the charging system of either one.REMEBER THIS!- turning off the vehicle you're using to jump start could discharge the battery to a point that both vehicles have low or dead batteries!

U have voltage regulators for a reason, the car dosent care, say the other cars alternator is putting out more juice then the other car wants, the ecu will drop the target voltage down to make the alternator put out less voltage, even if that means shutting down the alternator completely, the newer chevys use this by shutting down the alternator when the battery hits 80%, but that’s a little different system but share the same concept, the Chevys unitize a Hall effect sensor to control there rvc

Also good battery you connect at terminals and dead is at positive terminal and negative is chassis ground..

That's why once you get the vehicle to start you simply disconnect the cables

You hook up the dead battery first to avoid sparks near a discharged battery to eliminate explosion hazard. You hook up the positve of the vehicle assisting, the negative last, usually to a good metal point on the engine. Tell us why both Alternators should not be active at the same time? They provide Direct current so the Sine waves are not an issue. These days each vehicle's computer controls the charge rate of the Alternator.

Correct way to do it is with a lithium jump pack that weighs less than 2 pounds and will for sure start any car/truck /vibrator

Sorry but I think that I will continue to it the way I was taught a long time ago. The engine has to be running or you can kill the other battery. Also, alternators have voltage regulators inside them. So you can’t overcharge a battery.

The alternator has a diode pack in it. The energy can only flow, 1 way. Don't do what he said unless u want, stranded.

He is correct with a motorcycle coz it has a, magneto. An alternator is, protected. Late model, Ford's, have a 5V "trigger" from the ECM, so they don't charge until a predetermined, voltage.
