Hey! Pablo here. I will be doing a Live Stream where you can see this, working with collections and ask questions:

Thanks for the support so far! See you there!

I think that format was a great idea. Please, share more with us like this !!

Woo! I'm so glad the Outliner is getting to be super useful! Hopefully it'll become a good tool for production managers as Blender becomes more adopted by bigger studios.
And, yes, I love this format. It really helps to connect me with stuff that was normally very dry and hard to interperet as a layperson. Keep it up, guys! It's looking great. :)

Yaaay! Exciting! Thanks for the heads-up!
Please make sure we have an option (Alt+Click on the icon would be perfect) to quickly solo one object type (like lamps for example). Deselecting all others is just as cumbersome as the old method. Thanks in advance!

Fantastic update Pablo, love the format! The hype for 2.8 is getting hard to handle :)

These kind of updates are absolutely fantastic Pablo. And to everyone at the dev team: keep up the great work!

as a side note, I'm a little worried about the interface of the outliner now. Seems very 2.4-esque. Might wanna consult Julian on that?

Hi Pablo, can we have a full workflow demo for outliner too? And also if we can get a floating menu to organize stuff like we have currently by pressing 'M' would be great. Thanks for the updates.

It would be great to have this type of object filter available directly in the viewport as well a la 3ds max

No more need to parent stuff just for the sake of uncluttering the outliner.

Nice work! I'm glad you guys are working on improving the outliner, which is definitely one area that Blender is a bit lacking (in terms of usability) compared to other apps. Thanks also for the video showing us how it works. I love Blender 2.79, but I'm really excited for Blender 2.8! :D

However, maybe you could use a dropdown with toggles for each entry and keep the text search even when setting filters? The current UI you have looks a bit large, and might require horizontal scrolling to have access to all of it, so a dropdown or some other organization would help keep it together.

Another suggestion I have is to allow users to type filters directly into the text search box. You can do this in Unity's project view by typing something like this "t:Material sandwich", which would search for any material with sandwich in the name. Maybe you could even convert the "t:Material" part of the string into the material icon as the user types it to give the rest of the search string more space (and notify the user that the filter is detected and applied). This kind of shortcut is in keeping with Blender's approach to giving users lots of power and shortcuts to do things efficiently (for example, typing expressions into number fields).

Hi Pablo, will we be able to reorder objects to our liking or are they still sorted automatically?

pienso que esa nueva forma de organización es mucho mejor. Gracias!

I'm loving these updates, but I was wondering how are collections gonna behave in relationship to groups?

I think the filtering is not intuitive... I am used to click on the corresponding icon in order to see this type specifically (other programs usually work this way; as well as the layers in blender). If I want to see only lamps for example I would click the lamp symbol and not everything else. I understand that your thought (I mean whoever is working on that :)) was to filter out everything that you dont want to see but I would love if there could be an option where it's the other way around. If I clicked on the lamp icon I would expect to see only lamps.

Otherwise I'm really excited for all the new features! Great Work! :D

Niiiice. This will definitely make the outliner more useful. The organising process will not only be possible... it might actually be... fun?

It would be nice to link to the blog entry in the summary.

It would be amazing if we could add more than the standard icons. I mean specially for stuff like scripting for our own rigs and such.
