Yamaha FZ-07 Honest Review / MT-07 Honest Review

Just a quick video on the Yamaha FZ-07 and Yamaha MT-07 my honest opinions. I have received several questions recently about giving my thoughts on the FZ-07 or an MT-07 review, so here you go.

I have ridden these bikes plenty and owned the big brother to them, the FZ-09, so this is all from my perspective and opinion. The FZ-07 is an awesome middleweight street fighter, or naked sport bike if you prefer. I think it really lives in the same sweet spot that the Suzuki SV650 occupied forever (and still occupies).

For an FZ-07 honest review or MT-07 honest review, they are a great middle-weight bike that delivers plenty of power, super nimble handling, a great transmission, and killer looks all while still being mild-mannered enough to be a great first or second bike if a rider is careful during the learning process.

Keep the questions coming and I'll keep answering them, ask a motorcycle guy!

The fueling is frustrating... not the fuel injector, but the fuel gauge reads low, and if you try to push it, the machine shuts down to "protect" the fuel system from running dry. The most I can ever get is to use 2.5 gallons from a full tank! Anyone else experience this?

Good video, very informative. I'd like to add, when he says, "Good head on your shoulders" that should include having the experience or know how to compensate for a somewhat twitchy throttle on a bike that produces gobs of torque, a bike could get away from an unsuspecting person real quick. (noob or not) It's accidentally happened to me a couple times and I've been riding on/off for 46 years, it is a real concern for anyone. Many people send their ECU's to "2wheeldynoworks" for a flash tune that gets rid of that throttle twitch and smooths it out. It does a lot more than that also (E.G. reduces engine braking that's a problem for a lot of people with this bike) and is well worth the money. I bought an cheaper Dobeck EJK for mine and it worked well to eliminate throttle twitch also, smooth like butter now! If you're uncoordinated, have bad balance an no confidence, I recommend staying off anything with two wheels.

First "danger zone" and I was like, it's getting real up in here. Second "danger zone" and I was like no freaking way, did he just pull off a double

Getting one of these for my first bike when I finish school. Been riding dirt bikes and quads forever so I'm thinking this will be okay for me. I'm also not an idiot and I'm gonna go easy on it and not rev the tits off it

1:10 through 1:32 is exactly correct, perfectly stated. It's why I started on an FZ07, still own the little badass bike.

3:36 DANGER

Dude, I totally love your rapid fire and honest reviews. I rode a cherry 2015 FZ 07 today and am totally onboard for buying it as my second bike, coming from an R3, which is the most awesome first bike to get. FZ actually felt even easier to ride, which is incredible, because I was convinced the R3 was unique in that class. But the key is, I learned throttle control on the R3, so was in total control and ready for the added torque after watching countless YouTube reviews of the FZ. I did feel the front end come up on heavy acceleration, but just leaned forward a bit and was fine. Love the more upright posture because of my aging back. Felt like I was right on top of the front wheel like a dirt or supermotard bike. Only been riding for about 8 months, but like you said, have a good head on my shoulders, having experience in a lot of high pucker factor sports in my past. I learned early on that it's never worth the risk to push the envelope beyond your comfort zone. Give yourself time to learn and make some mistakes to build on your experience.
Rock on, Alex, and keep pumping out the great videos.

In a two cylinder things happen QUICKER than on a 4cyl, as a matter of fact they happen IMMEDIATELY since AS SOON AS you open the throttle after you retract the stand, you are IN the high torque band. How hard is this to understand???? On a 4cyl, you can easily keep it under 5000rpm, and it's as tame as a 300cc bike.

Hey I’m new to riding and I’m stuck between and 2016 Yamaha mt-07 (2.5k miles) for 4500 or 2016 Kawasaki ninja 650ex (22k miles) for 3000 also some scratch fairing and missing foot peg on right side. Need best option for 6ft height and good resale value?

Alex, awesome review, short & on point! You answered all my questions in this short vid. I'm 55 & just got rid of my beloved 07 GSXR 750 but it was time, bad back injury & to be honest just way too much power for street riding but great at the track. I'm interested in a mid size naked & love the sv650 but now gonna check out the mt07 & ninja650. These days comfort is most important so I'll go with what is most comfy & more practical for street & occasional track day, nice job!

I have a 701supermoto, will I be bored with the torque on the mt 07?

I own one. I don't like the front mudguard. I might, maybe, one day buy the XSR 700 mudguard and swap it out. And I personally hate the way the bars look. I plan on changing the bars to some dirt bars. In stock form it's way too quiet, but at least you aren't alerting cops to your wheelies.

Other than that the bike is great. Get the comfort seat.

I was looking for protection for the engine Xsr700 because it's naked

Would you put the fz6/fz6r in the same type of category as the sv650? Or not because it's still a 4 cylinder?
