Triumph Street Triple? From what you’ve said, it would tick all your boxes

I love my mt07.so much. Have put 35000kms on it since getting it in april 2023. My wife got one too and she feels the same. There's nothing we love more than a 2 or 3 week motoholidays. Love tje sound, perfect power for us, can ride it all day no problem and the big surprise is the awesome fuel range. We live in Australia so it can be a bit of a ride between fuel stops and the mt07 is all over it. Am completely satisfied with it

For an AVERAGE rider MT-07 is amazing choice. Its fun, torquey, agile, cheap, holds value and is bulletproof reliable.. also it LOVES wheelies! but of course, if you are getting serious with motorcycles you will get to the point when it is just not enough and you need to upgrade.. and that's totally okay..
I have my MT-07 for almost 2 years /20 000km now. Needed only oil changes and new set of tires since i bought it brand new. I am super happy with it, even went for a couple of track days with it. I am looking forward to upgrade for the next season.

The MT07 was built on a budget but such a fun hooligan bike. I can’t recall trying a bike that felt so comfortable on one wheel…way more playful than the specs suggest and with a slipon the sound is pure music!

I did a 600km ride through the alpes yesterday on my Duke 390 and it made me fall in love with it all over again. I pushed it through mountain pass after mountain pass, through the clouds and chased a GT3RS through a completely empty Sustenpass. It was awesome. Anyone who says a small bike is not enough just hasn’t pushed it hard yet. The real fun start when you press the brakes, not the accelerator. If only my ass wouldn’t hurt so much after 11 hours on that thin seat.

I have a MT07 for 5 years now. I am a commuter rider. Works perfect for lane splitting in the city traffic. Flexible enough if i wanted to go farther.

I think they made the 07 platform as a second thought after they made the 09 platform. I imagine it went some like this:
Boss: Hey guys, can you make a cheaper MT09 ?
Engineers: How cheap ?
Boss: Cheap enough to retain 2 cylinders, all else you can trow out the window and use the cheapest materials and parts we can get away with.
Engineers: Are you sure this is going to sell well ? (proceeds to show an MT07)
Boss: Seems like it will sell reasonably well.

(proceeds to outsell mt09)

I bought a new MT-07 2nd gen back in 2018 and I’ve had it ever since, after coming from a 125cc it felt so fast and raw. The full Akra system makes it sound thunderous and gives it that personality I wanted.

It’s cheap to run, insure and tax so as a daily commuter bike it was perfect for me. It’s not too fast, not too slow and economical to run while still being a fun ride to work

I have a gen2 mt09 in the same grey/fluro yellow and can confirm the wheels are ALWAYS dirty... and couldnt agree more, after taking a mates mt07 around the block one time you have summarised how i felt afterward perfectly in this video

Calling a +70hp with insane torque a "beginer bike" is what causes 18 year olds to buy 180hp suicide machines to prove themselves. The MT-07 also felt a bit "cheap" in some senses to me, compared to my SV650. It felt like "too light and floaty" to have a good feel in corners. But 70hp is more than enough to get in serious trouble. And that CP2 engine alone almost got me to buy a T7.

TLDR: i mosltly agree. But pls stop calling sub 4second 0-100kph bikes slow.

I bought an mt07 as my first big bike after riding a 125 for 2 years. For me it's the best big beginner bike, it's super cheap ( bought it for 7000€ new in 2021 ) and very reliable. Has enough power to get you in trouble, and enough torque to be fun. If you're coming from a bigger bike i can see why you didn't like it, since everything is very basic, but that's why it's so cheap. With this bike i did both track days and moto touring and both were amazing. After 50k km in 3 years i will sell it and buy an mt09sp but i still think it's an amazing bike

If yamaha ever releases a MT07 SP with proper adjustable good quality suspension components, maybe give it another try?

Slipon is a very strange name for a cat. Or is it called Akra?

I love my MT-07 and both me and my dad have them, It does well at everything I want it for, I can knee drag the twisties, tour for 8 hours a day (with the aid of a medium sized front windshield), ride on dirt roads and even ride on snow and ice and its always comfortable, the engine is super punchy and for Australian standards where 30kph over the speed limit is $3000 and no license for 6 months I believe its fast enough.

I can’t imagine anyone would like an MT-07 after first buying an R1. Imagine buying a Nissan Sentra after driving a GT-R.

Just to chime in on the injury thing... I do Enduro MTB'ing, in January I had a heavy crash and smashed up ribs on my left side... I also contemplated whether I should give up on it, as it was 5 weeks of recovery, etc... I decided against it, did a few more Enduro events and rode a fair bit of gnarly trails in Cape Town... and then 4 weeks ago... I had another wild crash, fractured 2 ribs, tore my shoulder rotator cuff, and smashed up my thigh... needless to say, I'm now giving up on the Enduro MTB thing, as I'm sitting with 12+ weeks of recovery in 6 months, and getting hurt like this sux. So don't let anyone else tell you you did the wrong thing for quitting MX... your life and your body, do what suites your lifestyle and it's easy for people who haven't gone through the motions to comment on things like this, but at the end of the day you are the one that has to go through the entire healing process and inconvenience of being injured, being unable to function in day-to-day life. Peace!

I really feel that motorcross story, I remember being in hospital after a bad crash and all I could think about was getting on a bike again, I even went and collected a new bike whilst on crutches.

MT07 is a $6000 engine on a $7000 bike

I loved mine but mostly because of the engine, and sold it within a year
