How To Fix Your AC Outdoor Fan Will Not Turn On. I felt the top of the fan motor on my outside ac unit and it was severely hot. I spun the fan with a stick to get the fan to turn and once the house got cold enough I started to diagnosis the problem. I quickly found out that I had a bad capacitor. I will show how you in this video how I checked the new and old capacitor and how I repaired this problem.

Called a HVAC guy to fix it and he kept trying to sell me a brand new ac system entirely. Took 30 minutes to replace the capactior and it works...

Thanks for this. I watched this and fixed my AC unit for a $34 capacitor at my local dealer. It went out on the weekend and I know this saved us $300 or more. Amazon had a match for $17 but I wanted to have it right away because of the temps today and tomorrow. Much appreciated.

I want to say thank you. For the past 4 days my central ac stop working and I use to push the fan just like you use to but it didn't last long and it's was so hot. So I went and bought the AC capacitor and just did the job myself thanks to your video and now everything works amazing. My AC has been with this house for the past 34 years so I do have an older one, but it's all the same thing. Thank you again

This worked for me! Two years ago I changed out the capacitor thinking it was bad. It turned out to be a bad fuse. AC guy said hold on to my old capacitor because it was still good and I might need it later. Two year later I did and it worked and of course it was on the weekend. Thanks for the video.!

This is a great video and appreciate you taking the time to put it together. I don't understand why the 37 people would give it a thumbs down. Unreal!

Thank you very much, you were very informative, I just had a service technician come out and change my capacitor, my AC unit fan was not running, $265.00 for the new capacitor. The technician was very helpful and informative, he advised me to clean out my outside AC unit coils with a garden hose at least once a season, he showed me how to do it. Mine was completely plugged up, I also need about 2 lbs. of the New Freon added, it was an expensive service call, but I learned a lot. I had no idea, my AC coils were that plugged up, it's hard to notice that unless you look closely at the fins.

Thank you for this video. I am about to try this as my condenser stopped working yesterday, thankfully the weather is really good and I can just open the windows and run fans.

This video is worth it just for the zip tie tip alone! I've probably used 10's of thousands of zip ties in my life and I have never heard of twisting the excess off...and...I have cut myself countless times on those things. I don't know why I never thought of that. I guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! Thanks!
