Accidentally Sending a shrimp down the drain is one of my worst fears

I feel you. Shrimp are clever buggers and they can easily just sit there hidden, attached to the item you grab out of the water, be it a plant or decoration. And if they get the chance they jump really far!

My first shrimps, yes. I kept them in my betta tank. I just assumed that he would be good with his tank mates, as he has never shown aggression before (rarely ever flared), until I saw him picking at one of the shrimp and thrashing it around his tank. I felt so bad for the little guy, he was already dead by the time I got him out of the tank. My first mistake was brushing this off as a one-time thing, I assumed he did it because that was the smallest of the four shrimp. One by one he would kill all of the shrimp, and I still feel so bad to this day. At least I now know that one of my betta fish are bad with shrimp as tank mates. I would test my other betta fish, but that just feels too cruel...

Not too long ago I picked up some crystal reds someone surrendered to my local pet store and when the girl was catching them all there was one missing and we looked everywhere for the little shrimp and then realized he jumped out of the net onto the floor 😭 Luckily we were able to scoop him up and save him and hes doing awesome now! So glad we were able to rescue him 🥰

My first tank was filled almost to the brim with water. During the first night after the shrimp moved in, 8 out of 25 shrimp climbed out of the tank (wiggling up between the air hose and the glass), fell down to the table and died. :( In the morning i saw the ninth on the way up, and put a stop to it.

I accidentally beheaded a shrimp while doing some plant maintenance. I have never felt so terrible in my life and I let the plants take over the tank as a response so I didn't accidentally kill anyone else.
