Plot twist, they actually can't update it any further, they've reached the limit of the Creation Engine but are too embarrassed to admit it, so they've gone radio silent hoping people will forget about it.

Edit: I don’t even care for the Next Gen Update I just want an Update that’ll fix the DLCs!

Dude, they don't care about the consumer anymore. I mean if they really cared, they'd give 4 the same treatment as skyrim but for the past 5 or 6 years we haven't gotten anymore bug fixes, we have the exact same mod limit as we did when they released, and we haven't even got a merged mod and creation menu yet, lol. People need to wake up and realize that bethesda has gone full blown ea, stop expecting them to care about anything other than the almighty dollar.

Bethesda is asleep. I mean Starfield is 7 months old and got no new content, it's just ridiculus. Just like having 15+ years between Skyrim and ES6 or the same with FO4 and FO5. It's like they have a money printing machine and they refuse to use it. Elder scroll should have had a game every 5 years, ES8 would be on it's way and Bethesda would have made millions with ES6 and 7 already.

I wonder if you have heard THIS story--- it appears that any Ps4 and Ps5 players, who have downloaded any of the FO4 dlc's in the last week or so--- those dlc's are missing textures, to the point that everything--- craftable items, even npc's, are bright reddish-purple. There's been some kind of recent update that has borked DLC's for Playstation players---- sure would love if this story got some traction.. maybe enough attention could get Bethesda to fix the issue--- I mean, these are paid-for dlc's that aren't playable.

The update just announced. Along with new (free) Creation Club Content like Enclave Remnants. I think these new CC contents is canon with relation to the recent release Fallout TV show Series.

It had better come out tomorrow. I'm tired of excuses. We have been waiting 5 years for an update to _Fallout 4, _ and that is ridiculous. They could always delay paid mods to a later date, and release the next-gen update (along with the unreleased Creation Club content) tomorrow. I am a paying customer; I will buy the Creation Club content if it is good... but I can't do that if Bethesda continues to drag their heels like this.

Honestly, this update is either 80% sure gonna be the worst or 20% great. If the update doesn’t break any mods or only some mods which is highly unlikely, it’s gonna be great, or if mods that haven’t been updated get updated as well especially to be optimized with a better base game, it’s going to be awesome. What is more likely is that it’s going to break a lot of mods. And most of these mods are what was keeping fallout 4 alive in the first place. Sim Settlements 2 and America Rising 2 will probably be updated, but mods like militarized minutemen, quality of life mods and maybe even fallout London will be unavailable and unplayable until they get updated as well to support “next Gen”.

I'm a fool and I believe there will be something tomorrow. I've been wanting to play FO4 for some time now but I kept waiting for news on this update. Hope it drops tomorrow :)
