The Minutemen are also the only faction that you are unable to kill off. Meanwhile, You are able to Destroy the Railroad, the Brotherhood of Steel, and the Institute. If it can’t be killed by a cannon, it is canon

There's a meltdown at the Institute and all endings occur at once.

I think the common thread for most Bethesda games tends to be that the 'canon' events are whichever events that happen if you follow the main story in a straight line. So minutemen as they're the faction you first meet can can just follow all the way through the main story without deviation or intentionally ignoring them to pick another faction.

The minutemen ending without the brotherhood being wiped out

It has been confirmed by the TV show that the minute men are the canon ending as their radio can be heard in one of the episodes

I'd say the institute is the canon ending. Of the 4 endings, the one with the Institute is the only one that has extra dialogue, and Mama Murphy says "...You will not be loved, but you will save humanity. However you choose to define it." Preston is still alive at the end of the game, so there's nothing stopping HIM from going out and rescuing settlements and recruiting, especially when he's got the fort back.

I definitely agree that the Minutemen seem to be the most likely course for a former soldier whose home was taken from them. I wonder what the plot map of the series would look like, between all the different courses the player can take.

I think the Minutemen make sense just for a single reason and that's the history, if the canon ending would be BOS then you'd have to have a name for the Sole Survivor since he would obviously take on the Elder position at some point. If it was the Institute it would be another faction with great history and the Sole Survivor's name being encrypted atleast somewhere. With the Railroad it'd be questionable because you are saving synths, destroyed the BOS and Institute which would HAVE to be in history, so it could be one of the 2 nicknames but i only remember Fixer which i chose in my playthrough. The Minutemen is more possible in my opinion since they have more groups lead by different Generals and high ranks so names can and possibly are forgotten over generations and time.

Honestly it makes sense, Maxson is basically a God in some of the BoS eyes, especially to those in California. Hearing that probably 65% of the BoS from the capital wasteland and Maxson was killed by a then rag tag group would shake the whole BoS order. Plus think about it.
The Institute and BoS were literally the British Empire to the Minutemen and the Minutemen had numbers and firepower to give them a genuine freedom slap. So to me, the Minutemen over the course of one or two games will become a more pure and uncorrupted version of the NCR.

Since the canon ending is always the "good" ending, I think the peaceful ending may be the canon one. Specially because Bethesda would never let something bad happen to their dear BOS.

I think that just to stick it to us fans Bethesda will have the institute ending be cannon.

I feel the institute because the sole survivor wouldn't give up the thing they had been looking for so long

I like the brotherhood

Canon ending is that the institute is "destroyed" ( but will come up later), the Brotherhood of Steel will have done its thing but not left much of an impression and The Minutemen and Railroad will not exist much outside of the occasional call-back ( at Max one Quest) in the future.

me and my friend have always thought it would be the best if the Minutemen mentality was backed up with Institute technology. Eliminating hostility from readers while establishing neighborly bonds and simultaneously trying to cure the mutants. And they are the only factions that can be allied with each other.

I like doing Railroad, Children of Atom, and Nuka Raiders endings for the main game and DLCs respectively.
