I'm from Brazil, according to my father, my grandparents used to grow a lot of coffee in our state, but now it is not worth it to plant it anymore because the region got so dry and hot in the last 20 years

So this is how the world ends, not with a bang but with caffeine withdrawal

In all the images about the Apocalypse I've ever seen, I never imagined it could start as millions of caffeine deprived coffee enthusiasts running rampant through the streets, mugging innocent bystanders with their coffee pots, bashing windows of every cafe yelling "ESPRESSO! NOW!"

I live in the middle of Brazil's coffee heartland and we've just experienced a very hard winter season which freeze-damaged a large part of the unpicked crops

I'm relieved that there is hope for coffee. Could you do one on the future of cacao/chocolate and tea?

Ah yes instead of showcasing devastating effects that the majority of people don't have time to worry about, it's much better to discuss the effects on something they personally hold in high regard.

I roast coffee for a living and I can tell you we are seeing coffees, that we once roasted dark for complex flavor, need an increasingly lighter roast because of changes in bean density and processing methods.
