KINDLE vs KOBO | Which e-reader should you buy?

One great thing i found with kobos and nowhere else is the support for the kepub format instead of epub. This format recalculates the pages left when changing fontsize.
It is a great feature that is (to my knowledge) only supported in the kepub format. Every epub file can be transformed to work as a kebub aswell, so its not even closed off.

That's being said, once you bought a book anywhere(or pirate) and have a file you can send I to both Kindle or Kobo(via PC/Mac or even email for Kindle). So I'd not recommend choosing device depending on the Stores which they represents, but use only hardware preferences (form, price, feeling, etc)

Great overview! You didn't mention Kobo Plus; essentially Kobo's version of Kindle Unlimited... only cheaper! I just mention that in case someone wanted to try Kobo but didn't want to give up KU. For people outside the US, Kobo also has the distinct advantage of being able to borrow books form the library. Kindle doesn't offer that in Canada (and most other countries) in any form, either on the eReader or by any other method. Kindle also, for some bizarre reason, disables bluetooth on Canadian Kindles. The chips are in there, they're just software disabled.

You can email any PDF or EPUB file you want to your Kindle. You can find the email address for your kindle and send files and they'll download right onto it.

If you buy a book off KU, you do not own that book. Amazon is (almost certainly) deliberately obscure on this point. You are purchasing a subscription to access KU (currently $12.99USD), and when you go to "buy" a book, you are purchasing a subscription to that book. That book is not yours to do with what you will, including loaning it out. They've become VERY restrictive about the conditions under which you can loan out one of "your" books.

I don't know anything about Kobo, or any of the other e-readers.

You can transfer your Kindle books to the Kobo Libra with Calibre software. I am thinking of changing over to Kobo Libra. I am surprised Amaon does not have a color ereader like Kobo and Barbnes and Noble have.

I have both kindle unlimited and kobo plus and love them both. I have a paper white 11th gen and kobo libra 2 and kobo Clara e2

kobo has kobo plus which has more books than kindle limited, also you can adjust brightnes without going into menu just slide finger up and down the left side of the page

I think the smaller Clara version is a bit more portable and practical and I don’t really care about buttons (to me that’s outdated and I don’t have any idea why it’s considered a premium feature) but it sucks that there’s no white version on the Clara. They can never give us everything we want sadly.
