In what ways did it impact life now? I've been a deist without knowing it for years now. It brings me a lot of peace with God. I blame him for nothing. I expect nothing from him. I'm just incredibly grateful for the opportunity to exist.

Deism is not really a religion. It's just a personal viewpoint on the existence of god. And, the same goes for theism as well. That's it.

It is actually good I have a name for my belief now. Couple of years had a powerful spiritual experience with which I experienced god and saw a lot of what is...ever since then a lot in this aspect has changed considering I was atheist for 35 years prior 😄. Deism is everything I experienced and now consider "truth" and reality

The problem is: once you move beyond deism (which can be hypothetically justified through argument) and start ascribing feelings, motivations and desires to your god, you have left deism - i.e. mere belief - and have entered affirmer territory i.e. the _claim_ (+ the belief) that a god or gods exist. This inherits a burden of _proof_ and arguments will no longer suffice. So, Xians, _prove your god or STHU!_

I’m sure he was a nice man. However listening to him blow hot air is the reason why people want to abandon religion and have peace and love God- call that deism if you want. Doesn’t really matter what you call it- that’s not the point.
