EHR consultant here. The big piece that Silicon Valley always gets caught up in when trying to innovate in the health tech space are the incredibly stringent regulations on research and deployment. The classic Silicon Valley motto of “move fast and break things” just doesn’t work in healthcare. You’ve got to adhere to federal and state regulations, and that doesn’t even get into all the insurance requirements. The medical environment is, in many ways rightfully so, designed to foster methodical innovation, which is inherently at odds with the ethos of Silicon Valley.

I got a 10% discount for my health insurance when walking 10000 steps each day. Discounted Apple Watches. Even rebate on my Apple Watch. Great device

As big as Epic electronic medical records is, their user interface isn't great, and it's clumsily built on top of legacy software. Apple should move into medical records first. Once they have a foothold, it'll be that much easier to port in data from their medical devices.

Every major tech company should be in healthcare. So many problems to solve, so much need and so much profit to be made while improving the overall marketplace, service, care and health of our citizens while lowering healthcare costs for the consumer. People want transperency and free market solutions and care which are the best in the world.

0:14 incorrect. It was *NOT* Apple that *Invented* the smart touchscreen phone, it was Microsoft many years before Apple but that didn’t take off so they scratched the idea. Apple just innovated upon Microsoft’s idea and concept.

An Apple each day keeps your doctor away.

Reassurance is much better than running to the doctor not knowing what’s happening thinking you’re dying. Much rather the hospitals have tons more worried healthy people than sick dying people.

Apple didn't invent the touch screen smart phone.

So many possibilities they could do with it and AirPods. AirPods could possibly become a health tracker too. Maybe both the Apple Watch and AirPods working together to provide more accurate data. It's probably harder reaching the older generation who may need to track their health sometimes more so than the millennials and younger. I think they are starting too but right now their target market is more of the younger generations.

Not in Australia it won’t be, we are still waiting for the ECG feature to be enabled on our series 4 watches and Apple refuses to provide any ETA when we will get it or if. I purchased the watch to track my heart and the promises are vapourware 👎
