This is what my therapist told me to do in 2019 to deal with my deteriorating mental state where I had nothing to be grateful for. Give this practice an HONEST shot, it changed my life. I’m not special it can change yours.

I meditate daily to focus on gratitude and wow has it made a difference. No matter how bad the challenges in you’re life there is always at least ONE thing you can be grateful and that mindset truly does change your life 💛

I love this - actually for years I’ve been trying to take out a journal every night and write down 5 good things that happened to me in the day and it really does work. In fact it made my depression better because I wasn’t dwelling on the negative.

I am so, so grateful for the wonderful people who surround my life and everything they’ve given me and what they do for me. I’m also so grateful for everything that I have, I am able to live comfortably because of all these things and I will never take them for granted. ❤

I started doing this a while back as my life was going headfirst into the crapper at 100 mph!

Finding things to be grateful for seemed ridiculous in the face of the adversity I was facing on a daily basis . Then I realised I had a roof over my head (no matter how temporary), a soft bed, a hot shower, clean clothes and the means to wash them, food to eat, a really supportive sister, an ankle that was recovering from 3 fractures...

Each day all these good things formed my baseline (if I could think of anything additional I gave myself a bonus point) as I faced the bigger challenges and writing these things down each day helped to dissolve some of my desperation.

It certainly changes your perspective and reroutes your brains neurons when you're catastrophising 🙂👍

I am so grateful for my health!
Grateful for the health of the people i care about, we tend to take this for granted. Taking a moment to thank all the work my body is doing for me, every organ, every cell working tirelessly and i think we should give ourselves a big hug! 💗

I’ve been using this technique for Monty’s now and I’ve noticed that I naturally feel a bit happier every day, I’ve learned to love little things. I have a Happiness list in my iPad with over 150 little things that I enjoy ranging from meatballs to Orchestras. Think of things that you love in your life, it can be as simple as the cool flower in your dining table, or as big as a wedding. I’m very grateful that the 2 furbies on my shelf have been very quiet (that’s because they’re dead but still), my grandma bought me a comfy green shirt, I like popcorn, I like playing video games, I like playing piano, etc. It really does get easier as you keep trying. Keep going! You’re doing great 👍🏼
