After changing the factory Sumitomo Brake Pads to Akebono, I was not happy.

I replaced the Akebono with Sumitomo factory pads and I am much happier

Thanks for your opinion on the pads, looking forward to seeing some AHC, and fluid maintenance done marine style. new subscriber, Mark in Dallas

I had this same experience with the ACT. The ASP are somehow different though and there good.

Question, did you change the rotors when you changed the pads? If you did not, the Akebono pads will not be able to properly create a transfer layer of pad material on the rotor surface. This is a key point of ceramic pads and how they operate. Just changing the pads without new or resurfaced rotors is not the best option and may explain the pedal 'feel' that you experienced. Using the same rotors, the Sumitomo pads (which are also ceramic) will have left their own coating of pad material on the rotor surface and not be the best surface for bedding the Akebono pads.

Okay so I’m not the only one with this same pedal issue lol… I just changed my front rotors and pads…. Akebono & imma give it 500 miles to break into the rotors

What Akebono pads are you referring too, Akebono ProAct or Performance series? Akebono makes two different brake pad series for you particular vehicle?
