I put Akebono brake pads on my 04 chevy and the brakes are the best with no noise. I take all of your tips. Thanks.

I always buy top line parts especially for the front brakes. Last time used Akebono pads and don't think I'll ever use anything else from now on. Worth the extra $20.

Scotty is right as always. No need to replace the original part with a cheaper after market. Keep all the original parts specially for a car with manual transmission.

Thanks Scotty for confirming what I suspected all along - they make the ridge to sell rotors....

The outer ridge on the rotor is brittle and chips off with a gentle hammer tap. As long as the rotor has sufficient thickness it’s not an issue. Quiet brakes for a couple of minutes work and zero cost 😊

For Honda Accord and Civic, wheels still get stolen regularly so wheels lock are a must.

I had a junker car one time and lightly filed that rust ridge down and it was good as new.

I’m from NYC and it’s common to find wheels stolen especially on Hondas. Wheel locks are essential unless you want to find your car on milk crates.

I just did a 4 wheel brake job on my truck. On advice from Scotty i used Akebono pads and also got the Raybestos coated rotors due to road salt here in the northeast. The Raybestos rotors did right by me on my last brake job so i think i found a winning pair.

I learned that every screw matters even the tiny ones that screw into the rotor! I didn’t put the 1 tiny hex screw back in each rotor and braking at 50 plus shook my steering wheel. And every month I had to keep tightening my lug nuts cuz the vibration from rotors loosen it up!
Learned my lesson

Hey Scotty I know you say to replace the rotors to stop the squeak but what if you're a cheap guy like me I just took my vibrating sander and some oxide sandpaper and sanded the rest off put it all back together seems to have helped quieted it down a lot did I make some horrible mistake😮

I had 4 locking nuts on my RAV4 always kept the unlocking key in the glove box the only ones who ever touched them were the mechanic or the tyre shop and between the two of them they got lost cost the mechanic a couple of extra hours getting the wheels back on told him to put ordinary nuts on and change all the nuts for good ones

Akebono doesn't make brake pads for my car in europe (Toyota Aygo) so I got Aisin Brakes instead. They work fine.

Your allowed to take an angle grinder and grind that ridge on edge of rotor off.

Another way to change the wheel is loosen the screws a little on the ground, then lift it up, then unscrew completely and change the wheel, put it back on the ground and tight the screws up. This way you are producing no stress on the gears or the brake.

When I used to have a 2010 RX 350, I always made sure to know where those lug nuts were!😂😂
