Not going to lie, I never considered cutting out my fabric with pinking shears! That’s genius for quick finishing of seams.

I am surprised that you do not have a vintage sewing machine. They work marvelously.

I saw a old newsreel and it was showing wives how to repurpose their husbands old clothes. It showed how to cut down the clothes. How to make a tailored ladies jacket from hubby's old jacket or reuse the clothes for your sons. One suit of a grown up male can make several outfits for the children depending on the size of the husband and child's age and size They even showed how to turn the scraps into slippers and a little clutch purse.

My mom and her sisters grew up in the 40s in Vancouver. Not many women wore pants around here yet just dresses mainly. So cool to see you make them. Thank you!

Thanks to you I understood my vintage trousers pattern a bit more - I‘m a total beginner and chose cigarette pants, I dug my own grave lmao 😅

Super Cute Pants! You are such a perfect cutie for all the retro fashions! Isn’t it amazing how the sizing on patterns changed over the many years. I started sewing at age 12 with my mom who made a new outfit every day in the 1960s and 70s. Janet

The buttons look great. I never though about folding over the pattern to my size, great tip 🤗

If anyone is wanting to try sewing a vintage pattern but feel bad about cutting into it, you can buy translucent pattern paper that allows you to trace the original pattern onto the paper and cut that out instead.

Gabardine may get shiny with ironing. Either iron on the back, or use a pressing cloth. These pants are gorgeous!

What a beautiful home made trousers. Love it! I have a couple of 1940 sewing patterns for evening dresses, I’ve yet to use them as I’m terrified of messing it up! But I’ve seen amazon having the same pattern so I guess I just need to buckle down and go for it!
