Two weeks ago I tought I needed a new pair of proper trousers and spend one day to make some out of a nice tweed I found online. I compressing the 9 hours of sewing these pants into a 9 minute video.

My favorite eBay shops for wool (affiliate links!):

I used the cotton coutil I had left from my corset project for the interfacing of the waistband, brown cotton for the lining of the fly, and tartan cotton for the pockets.

Did you ever make something in one day and later thought you should have taken the time? :D

I made a dress in a day that I've now taken apart and remade 4 times because it just never seems quite right. 😂 This is quite impressive, looks like trousers in a day was a good decision actually!

Bro....that wasn't overly dramatic. It was dramatic enough because there's no way I would have expected something that nice in *one day* . Absolutely beautiful job, brother!! The drape is perfect 🔥🔥🔥

This brought back a memory for me. Forty five years ago, when I was 15, I made myself a pair of trousers. Maybe it is time I did so again.

So love the fact that you perfectly matched the lines in the fabric. It seems no commercial maker does that at all any more and nothing says good quality and attention to details like perfectly matched pattern lines. Beautiful job Niklas!

They look gorgeous!!! Nothing more lovely than when someone takes the time to pattern-match :') It really makes a difference in the end result! Looking forward to seeing the process of the making of the waistcoat!

Absolutely beautiful trousers. I love when all the lines match and the fit is impeccable. It is wonderful to see these ensembles on you. You take me back to my grandfather as a younger man. It actually tears at my heart...and blesses it too.

Looks great and clearly fits well. We have sort of lost touch with the comfort of having clothes that fit our bodies. Women actually have it worse because of more curves. But waist and inseam (to the nearest 2 inches) just does not do us justice.

WOW. Very impressive. I dabbled a little in sewing when I was in 9th grade and made some dresses and some shorts. But I'd like to learn to sew properly. So impressed by those who know how to sew. Great job here!

Great job! Reminds me of that time 20 years ago when I made 9 pair of cream Oxford bags for the men (including myself) in my 1920s dance orchestra in 6 days. Worse thing was it was over 30°C most of the week. I adapted a commercial zoot suit pattern using one of my old tailoring books as this was quicker than redrafting a pattern for each player. One pair wasn’t quite as good as I would have chosen, but overall they weren’t too bad. I could only afford to use gabardine (which I regret), but I did include shaped turn-ups, double pleats, in-seam pockets and a button fly in each. Making so many at once meant I could save time making all the flies/pockets/belt loops etc at once - so long as everything was labelled. Like you, I did cheat and use the buttonhole attachment on my machine rather than hand finishing the buttonholes. But with that many button flies I never would have finished in time. I also made a dozen real bow ties all adjustable in a green silk. I had hoped to also knit pullovers to wear for this daytime uniform (inspired by a photo of the Jack Hylton Band) but never got to that. We ended up having to disband in 2011 because of the global economic recession.

Awesome work. I love the over dramatic part. Great work. When you decide to make and sell trousers, i wear 38x30.

Trousers turned out great! I especially love the sneaky green pockets (and Flight of the Bumblebee for the first stage of a "rushed" project)

Dear Vintagebursche,
now that I have created a cap and two collars according to your book, I will create another club collar with smaller heights and then I will also dare to make pants. Thank you for this new push. Stay healthy!
