People who think that mania is "the good part" of bipolar don't know what mania actually is.

You can tell when I'm manic when my texting chat looks something like:

My Mom: I noticed you've been texting a lot today in a short time, did you take your meds and sleep last night?

Me: *Writes 10, 000+ word essay that includes a thesis statement, cited sources, and the word "oyster" explaining why I'm not manic and how this chandelier I'm about to buy online is going to be good for my mental health. Ends in: "hahahahahahaha"*

My Mom: Okay honey, I'm on the way.

Classic.

Several years ago a friend who had a mental health relapse spent £10, 000 on a very old, tatty, Mercedes car. After his discharge from hospital the seller would not refund the money 😢

The worst part of mania snapping out of it and realizing all the consequences that occurred.

Thank you for this look at the drawbacks of mania. Even if mania can feel fun at the time, it doesn't sound like a fun experience overall. The thought of being tired all the time but not being able to rest sounds especially difficult.

One pf the reason i went miss diagnosed for so long was because my mania presented itself as rage instead of the euphoria more bipolar patients get. Mania really sucks.

How long do mania episodes usually last and what triggers them?

Well I would think that both sides of bipolar have their drawbacks. Neither are healthy states to be in. Do your drugs help flatten out your ups and downs so they are not so dramatic?

Yeah, I guess i get that too. That's a great explanation. In retrospect it's a bit embarrassing .
