My sales training never taught me to understand the pains or pleasures of my targeted industry. I’m guessing that was my missing link for cold calls and emails. Thank you for this!

How could I understand and get my prospect's pain:

Should I ask if they have a problem my product or service will solve?
or
Should I check their websites and social media accounts to figure out myself?

Cause if I am prospecting enterprise by sending them a cold email and not familiar with their pains, Most probably they are not gonna reply.
