Hey Chaps! Would you go FHD 144hz or QHD 165hz??

Buying laptop or even single PC component is always complicated.
And the more you understand the harder it gets to choose.
Sometimes knowing less has its benefits 😄

Biggest difficulty is getting a good gamut display on a fairly priced laptop.

edit: I bought a Legion 5 Pro QHD 165Hz HDR400 Dolby Vision and 100% sRGB.
It is a good display on a fairly priced laptop.

I've known plenty of people who have bought gaming laptops over the years and hardly any of them bought another. It's one of those phases that many pc gamers go through but rarely stick with.

Deciding to buy a decent gaming laptop is not hard…finding what you want in stock is sadly. :(

Tom: 144 hz 1080p screens are not that responsive
Meanwhile me with a 60hz screen: It's pretty

I think undervolting the gpu is more important than overclocking or combining undervolt with overclocking for that sweet spot of minimum temps and highest fps

Reviewers need to get more technically minded. There's way too many glowing reviews out there because someone is reading a spec sheet, not diving into BIOS maturity, MUX switch, customer support, longevity of components, etc. How many FPS a laptop pushes doesn't mean anything if, say, the customer base is reporting that they're all battery bombs and the OEM does nothing about it (sup Razer)

My partner asked me to shop a gaming laptop for her today. She doesn’t care a ton about AAA titles as she does indies, but this video was super informative to aid in my search. Thanks!

for overclock the gpu, i recommend you undervolt the gpu and squeeze a lot of performance. it was extremely useful for my secondary itx desktop

That Creator withstood the test of time, almost being knocked down to the floor a couple of dozen times 😅 looking forward to the full review

Got my Omen 15 with rtx 3070 and Ryzen7 5800H for 1.500 € in June and im very impressed with the Performance it is giving. My Laptop before the Omen 15 was a used 2013 Macbook Air and the jump from playing Minecraft from under 10 fps to 160 fps with Shaders was massive!

Dodged the performance limitations of the 3050 series - i guess that would have been a bit awkward with the sponsor haha

Great video! Just wanted to add that I have had a whole host of issues with my Razer Blade 15 Pro - definitely do NOT recommend - it is incapable of even mid-tier games and overheats to the point of burning my fingers when I try and press certain keys (E, R, D, F for example). Some friends also have Razer Blades and theirs are unable to close properly as the case has warped so badly from overheating. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

It's a pretty greasy business all around. You'd be surprised how many 3060 laptops perform worse than 1660 TI laptops simply based on CPU choice or power consumption. No average consumer is going to assume a 3060 would ever perform worse in a 1660 ti. Basically, the answer to this video is watch every YouTube video about the laptop before you buy it. Compare benchmarks and stay within your budget. Laptops simply don't last that long under heavy use. There's no point in spending way more than you can afford now when you're probably just going to have a dead product in three or four years.

Great tips! To expand on expanding RAM and storage later, I like to look for laptops that have a second M.2 slot to make it even easier and more flexible to increase the storage.

I couldn't build a Desktop PC back in April because of the GPU fiasko. So I did my research on laptops went to Microcenter near me in Cleveland and bought this Lenovo Legion. i7 10750h 6core/12 thread with 16 gig of DDR4 2933 & RTX 2060 with 6 gig. I absolutely love this thing and it will run 1080p Ultra on absolutely every game I own on Steam. I love this thing after saying for years I would never own a gaming laptop because they are underpowered, I stand corrected it is fantastic.

Very happy to have found this channel! I do a lot of graphic design and video editing for work, but I'm also a massive nerd who hasn't had a decent gaming set up for a very long time. So I'm in the market to kill two birds with one stone. I'll look forward to that z16 review. Also, I'm British, and appreciate your tea drinking and candour and carefully measure enthusiasm.

I absolutely agree with the Gaming Workstation tip. DO NOT let anyone tell you that a gaming PC has to EXCLUSIVELY be used for gaming, because that's rubbish. Especially if said laptop has a 165Hz screen, more times than not that is PERFECT for video editing as The Tech Chap said. Particularly if said laptop has good or great colour accuracy.
