I have been saying for years that Vanguard's Index Fund VTSAX is the best Index Fund in the world and could quite possibly be the best investment period. It has been a while since I have talked about VTSAX and people have been asking if I am still a VTSAX fan boy or if I have changed my investing strategy for Financial Independence and Financial Freedom.

In this video I will answer some of the most FAQs that I get about VTSAX and VTI by Vanguard to that you can make a more educated decision for your portfolio.

You can check out "The Simple Path To Wealth" by checking out my Amazon shop using the link above and NO EXTRA COST to you.
Cheers!

The advantage of buying VTI (VTSAX) over VOO (VFIAX) is both small and mid-cap stocks have constantly beat out the large cap stocks in growth. VTI gives you that exposure, hence the better performance.

Hi Brad! Nice to hear from you again! I started following you back when you were on your debt-free journey (which I am so close to being debt free also! By the end of August!). Several months ago I read JL Collins book also, and ended up rolling an old 401k into an IRA with VTSAX as one of the funds. So it’s cool to see your video! Take care and thanks! 😃

Awwww yiss! SAME. I’m loving learning about options trading, but the S&P 500 is 75% of my total portfolio, easy. 🔥😎

A bit of practical advice... If you have over $100k in VTSAX or VTI, consider splitting it among the six Vanguard Market Segment Index funds... Put 20% into US Large Cap Growth (VIGAX), put 30% into US Large Cap Value (VVIAX), put 10% into US Mid Cap Growth (VMGMX), put 15% into US Mid Cap Value (VMVAX), put 10% into US Small Cap Growth (VSGAX), and the remaining 15% into US Small Cap Value (VSIAX).

Those six funds have very little overlap in terms of the companies they contain, and together they cover the entire US stock market, just like VTSAX... So when you split it up in those proportions, your performance will match VTSAX exactly... So why bother? Because it gives you clarity and granularity to take advantage of long term market trends both on the front and back end... As you add money to your portfolio, you can specifically add to the funds that are lagging farthest behind their target percentages mentioned above (buying low). Then, you also look to rebalance your portfolio once a year or so, if your Large Cap Value Fund is way above its target of 30%, and your Mid Cap Value fund is a bit below its target of 15% of your holdings, then you know you need to sell some VVIAX (selling high) and buy some VMVAX (buying low)... You do that for 20-30 years and you should outperform VTSAX in the long run.

Then you have advantages in retirement when you're cashing in your portfolio to live. Sell the highest gainers as you go, leave the lagging funds more time to grow.

I have secured financial freedom by investing in bonds, equities, EFT's and some digital currencies .

One of the differences between The fidelity zero funds and VTSAX is the frequency of dividend payments

Thank you for the commentary, it is a blessing! As a nurse, I suspect my MAGI will exceed the maximum for 2021 roth ira contributions. Will I need to do a one time conversion only for 2021??

I like ITOT also - very similar. Good alternative if you don't have an option of Vanguard, or if you get charged a fee to buy Vanguard.

Hey Brad, I´ve recently found your channel, my congratulations and appreciation for sharing all that wisdom around. I´ve also discovered that we have almost the same type of game. A solid log-term well balanced portfolio, and some spare money to "play" with options, day trades, penny stocks, I call it "learning and training" money, I invest it developing more training skills.

I'm really thinking about opening an account with vanguard and start to invest in vtsax. I have a separate ira with td ameritrade along with a 401k/pension with my employer . Any advice would be appreciated thank you 😎

Thx Brad for transparency of Roth! VTSAX or VFIAX as one fund is great and they both have indirect international exposure. I think VLCAX or VV- etf version is more like VFIAX S+P 500 instead.

Just converted a good bit of my VTSAX -> VTI. Thoughts are that I could sell way otm call options to increase my returns/yield. Curious to hear your thoughts.

New to your channel, love the info. If I want to start pulling compound interest yearly do u recommend the vti or the vtsax? Wondering if etf is better for yearly passive income

So I maxed out my Roth with VTSAX, I got extra money enough to get into VTSAX do I get that into my brokerage or to I get VTI?

VTI is slightly better because there isn't a $3k initial investment requirement and a slightly lower expense ratio. Also the average person can get their Roth IRA started early with M1 Finance or SoFi.
