What do you think is going on in Episode 28's mysterious flashback? What happened to Yhwach in the past? And why did Soul King Adnyeus create a world that rejected the Quincy? Let me know your thoughts below - thanks everyone!

Yhwach once again activating his almighty powers 9 minutes 9 seconds into the episode was absolute peak 💯

I love how the imagery of Yhwach aging as he sinks into the primordial sea seems like a symbolic representation of his severance from a higher state of existence—his fall from an almost divine realm into the cycle of rebirth. It paints the Soul King’s choice to split the worlds as a cosmic betrayal, casting Yhwach into a mortal fate, sparking his obsession with reclaiming that lost status. This mythology, which blends divinity with existential exile, feels like Bleach at its most ambitious—linking themes of power, sacrifice, and the tragedy of separation

“Ywhach is trying to save his father from his eternal humiliation and suffering.”

“Ywhach is trying to save the Quincy from the unfair world his father made, and bears a grudge against Adnyeus for creating it in the first place.”

What if both are true? Torn between love and hate for his father, but both leading him to the same choice. Killing Adnyeus and returning to the primordial world. The Ywhach we’ve seen in the anime could certainly have that level of deep, complex and even contradictory motivations.

The name Adnyeus is likely based on the Hebrew word Adonai, meaning Lord, which is also a common way to refer to God

The Spirit King getting his name back has such deep meaning. Perhaps he saw that creating a new reality was a better alternative to the chaos while seeing his eventual freedom in death. Then the ancestors polluted it all by seizing power, putting themselves and their ambitions/descendants first and nothing more. Ironically that decayed too. The Shinigami are stuck in endless Hollow fighting while the nobles live in gilded cages, wary of each other with overtrained assassins on call 24/7.

You know, I'm starting to agree Ichibei might be responsible for Yhwach's initial condition. The baby being unable to do anything at all suggests that this state could be similar to when we literally saw Ichibei take away his ability to speak, just by Yhwach saying his name. Maybe it ties in with that moment in the early story where "Zangetsu" tries to tell Ichigo his name, but it's blacked out.

It says in the Bible that Jesus was with God before the creation of the world. Yuwach being lowered to the form of a baby after descending through the water (once again water was mentioned as being present during creation) was a surprisingly orthodox representation of Jesus virgin conception.

Complex answers sometimes have the easiest answers.
When Yhwach was speaking of his father holding back the darkness, might he have been talking about Hell? Consider that, as far as the canon is concerned, we know shockingly little of Hell and it workings. We do know that Hell is at least as ancient as the primordial world, if we're taking notes from CFYOW like the anime seems to be doing.
In almost every mythology where there is a primordial world, there is also a primordial darkness that the world either came from or is in balance with. Hell might be Bleach's primordial darkness.

The fact that its been 8 years since the bleach manga ended, and we JUST found out the actual name of the soul king is nuts

What tells us that the Quincy's aren't just the sons of Yhwach?

Let me explain:

Yhwach gave shards of his soul without thinking, and each time one dies Yhwach regain it with an extra, but, what if before dying some people had children? And those children had children, etc.

The soul shards are shared by all Quincy, what if the Quincy are an accident, a race that didn't meant to exist if Yhwach didn't had the need to split his soul to regain his power.

This whole flashback really makes me wonder, if Yhwach is the son of the Soul King, who was the mother? A regular human from the Primordial world or something else? It seems to me like he was reborn into the current reality through a Divine conception, given the whole Jesus parallel. The Quincy lore is so very interesting!

28:30 Another possibility is that Yhwach was too uninformed to understand what had happened when he witnessed the splitting of the worlds. Looking at the flashback, he already suspected that the world was split by the Soul King but he lacked the context and necessary information surrounding the event. Ichibei's visit and use of the Left Arm gave him the context to what had actually happened/was happening to the Soul King.

I think the first shot of Adyneus' eyes is supposed to be a first person perspective of the soul king himself. The next shot with Yhwach adds to this, it looks like we are seeing the soul king looking at his son.

I LOVE how the right arm of the soul king is always depicted as closed and gripping something, when he was holding that ceremonial sword when he broke apart. Such great little details.

When they revealed the soul kings name i told my husband “Mr tommo is going to be so hyped to learn his name” lol

It could be that the primordial sea actually exists above the world, sort of an higher plane, the soul king fully stands above the water, because he, as we have been told multiple times, trascends everything, while Yhwach instead is partially submerged because he is still not at the level of trascendace and dimensionality of his father. The shinigami may have been able to also access this higher plane by syphoning the king's power. It also make sense that to alter all of creation and reorganize the world you would need to be in a place from where you can influence the totality of it all.
