I love how this movie addresses the feeling of "not being good enough" to live at all, in feeling ashamed about your listlessness and lack of "purpose".

Parents need to rewatch the scene where 22 and Joe jump. You notice when they first jump, 22 is holding Joe for dear life with eyes closed (birth of child and how they need parent’s guiding and helping them survive. Plus they’re always sleeping) then she opens her eyes and gets more experience of life and slowly lets go with one hand to experience it for herself (childhood with still guidance from parents but not as much as infants need). Then when the badge lights up, that represents adolescent where the soul figures out who they are and does things all on their own without parents holding their hand. Parents still provide guidance when needed. Then when Joe let’s 22 go, it represents parents letting their child go to live their own life (college or moving out). Go live your life!

This scene makes me think a lot about my parents, they won't be with me until the end of the road, but they'll go as far as they can, the most that life allows them... They taught me to live and one day, they will part from our path to the great beyond :')

"Soul" is one of the most spiritual movies I have ever seen. Deeply beautiful on every level and that. art. direction! I love how creatively they managed to illustrate how it feels when you are in the flow, or shallowed by your problems, or how our temperament is given... So, so great. It fills you with gratitude and love and compassion ❤

While watching this I started to see the hidden storyline on top of this one. It's parenthood. That's the hidden storyline. This movie is art

"I'll go with you"
"You know you can't do that."
"I know. But I'll go as far as I can"

I interpreted this scene as a parent who supports their child in their lifetime. But a parent cannot be with their child forever because they'll get old and die earlier. However... They'll go as far as they can.

I had a very vivid dream as a kid that was a lot like this. We were all little babies, like those baby cherubs, and we were all waiting on this beautiful sunset pink and orange cloud. A few of us walked over to the edge of the cloud and looked down to the earth and we jumped so we could start our lives on earth. Was an awesome dream that I still obviously vividly remember to this day.

At this point when he isn’t expecting a second chance him saying “I know. I already did.” Is so beautiful. He learned after living what the real value of his life was. And he’s more excited to watch someone else experience that joy than he is to enjoy it for himself.

What all those great leaders couldn't do an ordinary high school teacher did. Not all have the drive to the so called "CHANGE THE WORLD, LEAVE A LEAGACY BEHIND " somewhere we all just want 2b happy & just enjoy life.

I interpret this as a parent's journey:
1. When they first jump, 22 is holding Joe for dear life with eyes closed and both hands holding his.
Represents infancy.
She needs full guidance.

2. She opens her eyes and slowly lets go with one hand to experience it for herself.
Represents childhood.
Her opening her eyes represents her seeing the world more clearly.
Holding one hand represents still being handheld from parents, but not as much as infants need.

3. The Earth Pass lights up and beeps softly.
Represents adolescence.
She’s almost ready to leave the nest and take on the world without her parents.
The badge also represents souls forming a better idea of who they are in the world and what they want to do.
Joe helped 22 complete her badge by teaching her not just how to live, but why to live.

4. 22 lets go of Joe’s hand and flies on her own.
Represents child leaving and parents letting their child go to live their own life (college or moving out).
22 is nervous and sad to leave, but Joe nods and smiles, reassuring her that everything will be alright.
