I'm surprised the price would be so high. It looked like the pistol was sanded down and that kills value.

The 4th Continental Light Dragoons wore red coats at the Battle of Brandywine and had to cover them with hunting frocks to avoid friendly fire.

$700 is a fair price for a rare rough shape wooden pistol.

Proof marks, there are two UK proof houses. London or Birmingham. They were established in 1673. By English law any pressure bearing part of a firearm must be proofed by one or the other, before the firearm is sold, bartered, or passed on. If a firearm is De-Activitated, it must also be subbm, itted to the proof houses, where it will be marked. A De-Activated firearm under British law is speciffically not a firearm. It is an offence, subject to ten years in prison to falisify or interfere with proof marks.

Just because something is old doesn't mean it's valuable.
