Dude rocks up with an Alpha Black Lotus and Chum is explaining what MTG is to him lol. I know it's for the audience's benefit, but it's still hilarious every time

I really like the new Chumlee. He has matured like lovely old wine. He is so much calmer, perceptive and yes, does sound intelligent. Also unlike earlier days, the way he interacts with customers, Rick and Corey is so much cool.

I've seen Chum at a MTG card tournament in Las Vegas. Really down to earth guy.

Fun fact: A 10 rated Black Lotus was sold for 500k around two years ago - and last summer Post Malone bought one for 800k.

The gentleman giving the evaluation mentioned the difference between Alpha and Beta cards. The distinction between the two is the difference between a price tag of $85, 000 or more for an Alpha printing and only $45, 000-$50, 000 for a Beta one.
Also, it is worth mentioning that there is still one format of Magic: The Gathering where Black Lotus is allowed to be played. You may only use one single copy of it in the entire 60-card deck, but in a format called Vintage it is essentially a must if you plan on playing in that format. Every deck runs its one allowed copy and any deck without one will not perform as well as other decks.

Chum is pretty polite when it comes to dealing with their clients, almost eloquent even. And the way he breaks deals is not offending at all.

When I got in on the Magic craze around '96, these were already super rare. It makes the Jordan RC look like a common. But I don't remember the price being $70k++, maybe $1k++. Insane how much they cost now.

Chum has gone from a kinda doofy young kid into being the most personable guy in the shop. He's always been the funniest though

The fact that a 6.5 is in the 70-80k range blows my mind.

85k for alpha Black Lotus was really not a bad price. I was surprised when it was suggested to be bought at 70k

In late ‘93, I saw a guy get so mad losing a friend’s tournament that he tore up his Lotus. Ouch. I did the smarter thing: sold my lotus in ‘96 for about $250.

I had this card in 1993. I was buying packs left and right as me and my friend were getting into the game. I eventually lost interest and he ended up with my entire collection as best as I can remember. This Black Lotus was definitely my favorite card I ever had.

1100 of these cards originally made. Average value for a good condition version is 80k-100k. Mint condition goes for a lot more. Meaning the combined value of these Alpha edition Black Lotus cards (if they were all in good condition) is around $100, 000, 000 or over. And back in the 90s few people understood or knew the kind of value these cards would one day have
