This Turns ANY Bike Into An Ebike! ⚡️

Skarper announced its electric bike system in June 2022, showcasing a design that is attached via a disc brake rotor to electrify a regular bike – and now it’s going into production.

Skarper’s system, which comprises of a proprietary disc brake rotor and chainstay-mounted motor unit, intends to simplify the process of fitting an electric bike conversion kit.

This was supposed to be a grand and say that price it was expensive. It’s now £1400. For the type of bike it’s for they’ve priced themselves out. At that point, just get a dedicated e-bike. It’s a shame because I love the concept.

Get a proper hub motor (for regen braking) or bafang mid-drive kit. They are cheaper too.

By letting motor rubber melt or smudge on disc brakes it is risking contamination. I'd rather see kits that directly attach to chain than brakes.

Although I personally feel anyone in the market for an e-bike could just work on their fitness a month or two, a sketchy setup like this won’t make the average e-bike cyclist happy, who just wants a fuss-free ride that just works

Ok I’ll bite, This has piqued my interest I’am sure the distance and speed are quite limited before recharging this mechanism and then of course your cadence and ride dynamics are off due to the increased weight that is one sided, just some factors I would consider before utilizing this…
