"You mean this huge collection of books isn't meant to be taken as purely chronological order 100% of the time? :("

I mean that is still "two creation accounts" It is two accounts of the same creation. The single account argument is that genesis 2 directly follows the events of genesis 1.

Love John Walton's view about it being a Temple Account. Makes so much sense in light of the surrounding culture.

Thank you for making these videos and educating us on the Bible. Its essential for Christians to understand the Bible as it is the basis of our religion and so we can explain it to non believers.

Genesis 1 is what He did.
Genesis 2 is how He did it.

All you have to do is read it though. The second one starts at Genesis 2:5.

It isn't even a honed down version, like you say, there are many contradictory elements between the two stories, both overt and covert.

Those people who never ever read any book only raise such questions 😂

According to them the introduction of the book is a chapter 😂😂😂

Nice, but I always understood the two accounts as two separate traditions, from two separate schools (Priestly and Yahvist) placed together, the chapter two account (Yahvist) being the older of the two.

The Genesis 2 account is just details on day 6 and it is in the Garden of Eden so Adam can name the animals (all beasts and fowl)

One scholarly article that argues that the two accounts in Genesis 1 and 2 are describing two different points in time is "Two Creation Stories in Genesis 1 and 2" by Gordon J. Wenham, which can be found in the Journal of Theological Studies. In this article, Wenham argues that the two accounts are describing two different creation events, with Genesis 1 describing the creation of the world and all its inhabitants, and Genesis 2 describing the creation of humanity. He suggests that the two accounts are not contradictory, but rather complementary, and that they were included in the text to convey different theological truths.

Another article that supports the view that Genesis 1 and 2 are two different creation accounts is "The Two Creation Stories in Genesis 1 and 2" by David M. Carr, which can be found in the Journal of Biblical Literature. In this article, Carr argues that the two accounts are describing two different moments in time and they are not contradictory but they are complementary. He suggests that the two accounts were included to convey different theological truths.

My view is that if Adam was to be the first high priest, like Christ was the final one, there must have been people to be a priest to.

If there were no humans, then he couldn't be a priest.

That’s why these TikTokers need to learn about the Bible’s history and culture

Genesis 2 fills in details on Chapter 1...very common in ancient Hebrew to keep the narrative moving

Don't the events happen in a different order between the two?

I never understood the two creation accounts. It seems obvious that chapter two is just going more into detail about e creation of man. But I do have a theory that it never actually says Adam and Eve were the first or only humans created. I’m fact throughout chapter one when God creates all the animals do we assume that He just created a pair of each species or that it was a multitude?
And as far as everyone still being related to Adam and Eve and inheriting their sin. We still are because we are all from Noah and his family when the world was destroyed.

I believe that a similar thing is happening in revelation. The seven seals I believe encompass the seven trumpets and seven bowls. That the seals tell a broad top level picture of what’s happening but the seven trumpets get into further detail while the bowls tell us about the day of the lord in detail.

i generally believe the 2 creation accounts because it doesn't really contradict with any doctrine. i can definitely agree with this other take as well though

We must use Scripture to divide Scripture, and study verse by verse, chapter by chapter.

Thus, Genesis 2 is a separate creation account, dealing with 'eth-ha-adam' the 'ruddy man' who was set in the Garden of Eden.

Nowhere in the Bible are we told to separate Genesis into pieces or combine accounts. Man's opinion and "tradition" ought not take precedence over the word of God.

I've wondered if it could be the creation of the serpent I feel like we are missing a chunk of the story.
