Love your work. I have a thing about touching pastels, charcoal and graphite sticks. I cannot stand the gritty, residue on my hands. My husband walked in when you were talking about this and I told him that I am just like you.

I think the Perfect Sketchbook is made with Fabriano Artistico paper, which is an excellent brand! Circle stencils are so useful, I've used mine a lot lately too. Wow thats a big pot of graphite powder - you can use it to lubricate stubborn locks, so that's another use for it, haha! I do love Mars lumograph pencils but yes they do shine a lot under studio lights. Pastels are horrid to touch, I hate the feeling of them. I had a feeling that jumbo gouache set would be a real hassle and be rather overwhelming. I would never use them before they dried out, lol. Great video!

Finally! Someone who doesn't like the Paul Rubbens oil pastels. They wouldn't layer for me either and I returned them. But you'd be hard pressed to find a YouTuber who doesn't praise these. But in their demonstrations...They don't layer. LOL Your video was great and I appreciate your honesty.

Put the palette on top of your gouache then put in a snap lock bag THEN snap the top lid on, they won’t dry out

I watched a video where a woman got cancer from touching, using pastels with cadmium. She might have also breathed in the pastel dust while she was using it.

Thank you. Your favourites were mine also & luckily I had been saved from buying the Paul Reubens by watching someone else's review. I don't like the feel.of chalk pastels either so my Faber Castel.pitt pastels I bought open stock at $4.50 each Australian I absolutely love. I would like to see a comparison with the stabilo. Happy New Year! The video was interesting and very informative. Your illustrations are amazing, I love the cupcake and strawberry. I’m always interested in people’s favorite and regret art supplies, particularly the regrets 😁. I bought the small 12-count set of Pitt pastels and I wasn’t using the correct paper, but I was so shocked at how firm they are. I prefer using my soft pastels. I don’t mind picking them up with my fingers. Sometimes I rub my finger against the soft pastels and then rub the pigment on to the paper using my fingers. I first purchased soft pastels as a teenager (many decades ago), so that’s probably why I’m used to messy fingers. May be you could wear latex gloves when you use them?

I love touching pastels, even using fingers to blend, sculpt the painting/drawing. I only used soft and hard pastels, not oil ones.

I haven’t yet found an oil pastel i agree with. But I also have both the stabilos and Pitt pastels, they will make an appearance in my next video hehe! I’m thinking about getting some mist bottles like that. I’d like to try some wet on wet watercolor techniques with them! This is a very fun video idea😊

Not sure if it will work, but have you tried using a pencil extender with the soft pastels? It works with crayons, so ideally it should work with pastels...

iv Always found that the product i [initially ] hate at first comes around to be a winner. iv a stash of kids cheapo paints and only a few expensive paints but return more often to the cheapo once iv given thought to how im going to get best use of them.Example Any kids paint that has an egg white base to it works great mixed with acrylics i find .your videos are very interesting !

I happen to love graphic!!! You should try Steadler Mars Lumograph Black pencils. They dont have the shine. I buy them over and over.

The new faber castell matt graphite don't shine much for pencil work. Brush cleaner cleans up the metal holbien pallets as well as for cleaning and conditioning your brushes. Derwent pastel pencils are similar to the faber castel to use and a little cheaper. I love using them with the faber castel polychromos pastels...can get great results but you do need to get used to the feel of them its worth it. Think Degas when using them. Faber castel also make a really good watercolor pencil in their Albrech Durer line, I prefer them to the Caren Dache. If you like a watercolor paper that is less absorbent and dries quicker for layering Saunders Waterford makes a great choice. Also the Stillman and Burn Delta series in soft cover are fantastic. I enjoyed your honest thoughts on what you enjoyed and what you didn't . Thank you. Its always good to share our knowledge of products.

I'll have to try those sketchbooks because I've struggled too. I only have 5 M Graham.  Are there colors you recommend? I have the Pitt Pastels and need to use them more.  My biggest issue is the sound on paper lol.  I have the pink soap but when out I use The Honest Company baby soap. Works just as well and no chemicals or ickies left on the bristles. That's funny you don't like touching the pastels. My first pastels were chalk ones so I'm used to it. The Paul Ruben oil pastels are kind of off to me as well.  With a blending stump they're slightly easier but still for the price I feel they're not as workable.

Isn’t it funny I bought the Windsor and newton professional watercolours and I really do t like them, I much prefer Daniel smith, it really is personal preference isnt if😊
