One of the main reasons why Java has such a rapid growth is because it's the island with the most work opportunities in the country. So many, MANY people from the other islands would rather migrate to Java than stay on their own islands where jobs are harder to find. And once they've moved to Java, they usually build their families there too which adds even more to the population growth.
