Wonder what some of the most common settings I tinker with when I'm getting set up with Tig Welding Aluminum?? There are many small differences and variables, and when tig welding aluminum it really pays off to make sure you've got a decent understanding of these before you get going on a new tig welding machine, or one that you're not familiar with. When you're Tig Welding Aluminum, a lot can even change from different heat ranges, IT CAN GET FUSSY!

So hang out with me here, and we'll get ya super dialled to understand what's happening, and how to improve on some small details with your machine set up.

Let's GOOOOOOOOOOO

Hey man. I have been tig welding for roughly 25yrs. Thought I was a great welder. But come to find out your videos have improved my aluminium work. Noticed using er4043 it is a little grany. Switched to 5356 and grane disappeared. Thanks for your hard work to help our industry get better.

I've recently landed a job at a local college teaching welding and your videos have been invaluable in helping me and my students to understand the more granular elements of TIG welding.

Thanks you for everything you do dude 🙏.

Of all the feature teachers with their "Muck Running" shoes on, I like your shows the most. Direct, comfortable, with little BS or "music". Thank You! JD

Wow! Never even heard before how the A/C balance affects the tungsten. Nor did I realize importance of post flow on AL. YES PLEASE on more aluminum tips Dusty. You rock and are my fave TIG resource. Cheers!!

Glad you’re breaking down pretty welds vs usable welds. I notice a lot of guys are learning off IG pics and are worrying about profile instead of penetration when pen is 10x more important than a “dime stack”.

My shop teacher use to hate pretty welds cause 90% of the time they were just too cold of welds lol

Hi, Dusty! From another episode, you are absolutely, positively 1000% correct about fine tuning argon flow! I turned down the flow just a little and it made a HUGE improvement in my ability to lay down dimes on aluminum!!!

Absolutely good advice! I'm a Welder and would rather weld Aluminum any day. I'm actually going to be starting a new job on Monday, and from what I could see, it's a older model Miller. But' it was set up pretty close, because I was able to lay down dimes. And the owner of the Company told me, when I was finished, that's exactly what he was looking for. So' I got the job, and can't wait til Monday morning. Great work on the pictures I saw. Beautiful work!! And yes' I live to help out others when in need.

Thanks guy! Battled my first aluminum tig job today. Started horrible, barely fused it together and finished slightly less horrible but now I think I understand how to set it better ✌🏻

Id take a video on torch set up, but for every application. Setting up a 9, 17 & 26. Being able to know what adapters need to be used would be helpful.

Like I said I took a coerce at a school and was a waste of time and money I have learned more from your videos than I did at the so called school. Thank you Dusty.

Thank you Dusty.

Your videos on TIG welding Al are invaluable. This one in particular will help me out with tungsten care and getting a better finish, amp (heat control), filler rod control. Vancouver Island is an awesome place, was there in “98”.

Dope, as always my friend. Alot of people like 90hz-120hz for outside corner, higher for inside corner 100hz-150hz, and lower for butt welds 60hz-80hz....and of coarse, all this is personal preference. Take care bud, down in Florida right now :) hard to imagine wearing a sweatshirt like u were in vid lol

Thanks for the video. Your explanations were right on target. You should do a video on torch setup for aluminium. Thanks again
