I shared this to my son, to inspire him to go recreational scuba diving. With your great presentation I think I will have a fighting chance that he will enroll in an Open Water Divers Course to have the safe basic skills to enjoy scuba diving. Of course expenses paid from dads pocket but I would have NO Regrets that he will learn and subsequently enjoy.

Hey James I am a PADI Instructor in Columbus, GA. I love your videos and agree with you. Watching this I have to agree with you about the asking questions. I follow many Diving Channels on Youtube and Facebook. I always get a little upset when there are new divers asking serious questions and then these divers with years of experience (or think they have) want to give smart a** answers. Please continue with your great content and I will continue to watch.

I got my Padi open water in 2010. I just completed my advance open water and got my nitrox certification. I also went on a couple trips this year ( Georgia Aquarium and Seagrove Beach, Fl). So far, I did ten dives this season. This dive season has been alot of first for me, First dive trip, first ocean dive, first boat, first deep dive, first nitrox dive, first night dive, and first search and recovery dive. Learning how to dive was the best decision I ever made.

First of all....I love this channel!! Great information for my wife and I as newly certified divers and information advanced enough that we can store for future use. Our first dive after cert was at a shallow scuba park in Athens Texas. About 25-30 max depth. Sunken planes and boats etc. Vis was right at 6' if I'm being generous, 3' in some places. We did two cylinders that day as we worked on just staying together as dive buddies and got a lot of work in on lost buddy procedures. I leave in the morning for a business trip to South Louisiana and then I'm meeting my wife in Akumal for two days of diving. Two cylinders on a 60' reef and two cylinders at Doj Ojos cenote. Blessings man and keep doing what you're doing. It's very helpful to folks like us.

I'm actually very new to scuba diving and I am signed up for open water classes (same as my SO) and I don't start for another couple weeks. I'm super excited to go diving and I definitely enjoy watching many diver videos as they help me kind of figure out what gear I'm looking for and they give very helpful information for gear. I'm super excited to start diving as I love the water.

For tip #5: I did watch your video on first piece of gear to buy as a new diver and instead of buying a BCD and regulator, I've invested in a new Shearwater Peregrine dive computer :) I'd rather learn to use my own dive computer perfectly than learning a different one every time I go diving and rent a different one :)

I totally agree jame with all you said.
It's a bit like skiing you get the guy with all the kit does not dive much, then you get the late guy always with out his mask. The talker who talks good but does little, then the drunkard always pissed day or night, then the quiet diver does not say much but knows how to dive well does not boast about it and knows his onions been diving since he could walk. Then there is the risky diver who takes all risks does not care about anything.
I am sure there are more out there.
Take care of the Gremlins.

I just completed my open water in St Lucia . I was talked into completing the advanced the next day because it would allow me to do an external wreck down at 25 meters. It was an expensive few days and if honest I regret getting sucked in but.... I then did 20 fun dives in 10 days. Say lots including three wrecks from the outside amazing reefs, a current that had me flying and I have 20 dives in a log. I should have spent the money on gear as the “adventure dives” were a waste of time . Fish I.d common !!! But hey ho. Live and learn. Thanks for the videos
