🚨NEW👉 $3.29 • I was excited to try these and more excited about all the recipes that have been sent to me using these! There is a one specifically called Korean Rice Cake & Dumpling soup “Duk Mandu Guk” which is a new years meal. The korean saying is if you eat rice cake soup on new year, you’ll have a long life like the long rice cake before it’s cut. How cool is that?! Love when the #traderjoes community provide me with the scoop!

Yes, love these in Korean New Year’s soup! Also, I stir fry them directly after soaking in water 1 hr for super quick, simple meal - just heat up a neutral oil, add minced garlic, choice of veggies, rice cake slices and saute seasoning w soy sauce + pinch of sugar. Mixture of soy sauce, oyster sauce and sugar is very good, too. Can top w scrambled or a fried egg cooked in same pan ( just push rice cakes to one side) for a hearty meal! Amazing w hot chili oil or sriracha.

Tteokguk (떡국) is a Korean rice cake soup made of sliced rice cakes in a savory broth that's garnished with eggs, gim (seaweed), and green onions. It's a traditional soup eaten during Korean New Year, called Seollal (설날), to mark gaining another year and good fortune. Maybe this could be the reason why Trader Joe's have this new item now.

Hii! You actually didnt do a bad job! A couple tips:

Always rinse rice cakes before cooking. Preferably soak them in water for at least 20 mins. Then put them into already boiling water. Cook them less so when u pan fry them they will continue yo cook without getting soggy. Look up a recipe called "deokbokki" or "ttukbokki" spicy and delicious!
