Hello YouTube, it's been a while!
I’m back in Italy for a few months to spend some much needed time with my family and so here’s some Italian content 🤌🏻
I went to visit my Nonna Rosa in Calabria (Southern Italy) for a couple of weeks in September and I thought it would be fun to film a very realistic “what I eat in a week” video while i was there 😋
I used my phone to film this whole thing so sorry if the quality isn’t the best :')
anyways, hope you enjoy and thanks to my nonna for cooking the best food 🥰

[about me]
Hi my name is Rosie, I'm 26 and my life is a bit confusing so i'm writing this lol.
To make it easy:
- I was born in Northern Italy, in the region of Veneto
- My whole family still lives there (mom, dad and my little sister Marty)
- I moved to Toronto, Canada, at 19 all alone to ✨find myself✨ (spoiler: it didn't work, i got more lost if anything)
So, I live half my life in Italy and half my life in Canada.
Also, my mom is from Moldova (country in Eastern Europe) and my dad is from Calabria (region in Southern Italy) and both my grandmas still live there. So you’ll occasionally see me going there as well.
I hope this clears things up a bit.. or maybe makes them more confusing lol.
I don’t know, i tried 😄

Hi guys thank you so much for all the love on this video 💗 I got a few comments in regards to the plastic plates/cups we used so I thought I'd write a general comment to explain 😊 When my family and I get together to visit my grandma (which only happens a few weeks in the summer) she uses plastic plates for cleaning up quicker and because she only has a few ceramic plates since she lives alone. My nonna is amazing but unfortunately a bit uneducated on the current environmental crisis so when I try bringing up the plastic usage I get dismissed quickly. I totally agree that there is no excuse to use so much plastic in current times and I am very aware of my environmental impact when I live by myself. But when I'm visiting other people's homes (like my nonna's) I tend to adapt to their way of doing things because I don't feel like I have a say since it's not my home. However I know I can do better than that, so next time I will visit my nonna I will buy her more ceramic plates and I'll take care of the washing ☺️

this is such an more accurate depiction of life and culture in italy than all these travel bloggers try to show it...just simple, delicious, loving, and sunshine

It’s crazy how there’s a misconception that Italians believe snapping spaghetti like that is *blasphemy* but here we see your Grandma do it for every spaghetti dish, love it!

I keep re-watching these, "what I eat in a week at my nonnas" because I love them so much. Their pastries looks so delicious. To be honest, EVERTHING looked delicious.

I love that you’re not afraid to show what you eat realistically. Having a few portions of your Nonas food and having snacks and treats. It’s so much more real and honest than other bloggers and it makes me feel so happy to see you enjoy things. :))

I just love how realistic and spontaneous this vlog is! I think people worry so much about aesthetics when making these kinds of videos that they end up... kind of bland and boring, honestly. But yours is a breath of fresh air, it looks like what could've been a week in my life, eating with my family... even though I'm not even Italian hahaha. I really really love this! <3

I'm not Italian, I'm from Argentina but this reminds me so much of my abuelita. She loved to cook, even when the rest of the family tried to help her she always tried to do everything herself because she just loved to cook for her family. Nothing like grandma's cooking. I miss her. You're so lucky to have her 💜

This exactly looks like a trip to my grandma in Turkey. I just love how similar the vibes are. Even in the beginning of the video, the laundries hanging in the back. Felt so familiar...🥺🥺

As an Asian, I always wondered what other cultures eat at home. Thank you for recording this. Your grandmother's cooking looks absolutely delicious!

Every now and then when I feel the lowest and life seems so blue, I come back and rewatch this and before I know it, it all goes away🥺 thanks for sharing this❤️

I love Rosie's videos. There's no showing off blatantly or subtly. She is just existing. I love this and so do many others, and many channels have tried to replicate her style of late

It's crazy how we Mediterraneans have a certain way of cooking, watching your grandma cooking feels like watching mine, same way of peeling or cutting vegetables, serving plates... Insane 😂
Watching you from Spain, love the video!

The simplicity of the way your nonna cooks reminds me so much of my mother. And it's funny because there's a myth that states that no italian would ever break their pasta when cooking, but my mom and her nonna always broke their pasta, just as your nonna did in some of her pastas 😆

If her Nona is breaking the pasta in Italy nobody is gonna stop me to do the same in Mexico 😂

it’s so cool to see how cultures in countries thousands of miles away have essentially the same foundations. I’m from Pakistan and have never been to Italy but this felt so nostalgic! spending summers with all my family at my Nani’s house was pretty similar and your aunt and Nonna cooking reminded me of home. Something so wholesome about the simplicity of spending summers surrounded by your family doing basic every day things that just feel so much more special when you’re all together. Loved this vid!

This was so peaceful to watch. We as a generation are so focused on the aesthetic that we forget to enjoy the beauty in the non curated/crafted flow of our life. Having a beautiful family that cooks for you, going to the beach, getting to pick desserts are all beautiful little moments we often gloss over trying to take an Instagrammable picture. Peace isnt even the right word, this video just felt very unfiltered and comforting. Our cultures are very apart as I’m from Nepal, Asia but it was great to see us share some food recipes. Thankyou for giving me a peak into your culture and life<3

I'm from India! I got to know about more dishes that Italians eat and their way of life. It was so refreshing to watch. Nonna is sweet ❤️

I’ve never been able to travel and watching this video made my heart happy. This is absolutely a piece of heaven. Your grandmother made me think of my great-grandmother and how particular she is in her kitchen, every morsel is full of love. Thank you so much for sharing. ♥️

I don't know why but this was so wholesome. In a world with so much suffering it's nice to know some people have a good life with a good home who can enjoy relative innocence.
