This plane doesn’t look like it is built for CAS, and it doesn’t look like it can survive even against small arms fire… Besides why risk two crew to accomplish the same CAS that the Warthog does with only one? Old, that competition is over and the Air Force passed on this jet. The F35 will be doing most A-10 work in high threat environments with the F-16 for lower threat environments and drones.

The only thing that will replace the A-10 will be a New Generation A-10.

Similar to the way AV-8A was replaced by AV-8B.

USAF, hates single role aircraft. But their are too many in Congress, who have been Army grunts who know the value of the A-10, even if the 30mm Cannon, is not as accurate as they think.

Even a podded Bofors 40mm or 57mm to be fitted to the centreline of the F-16 would be unacceptable.

At this rate, Congress, could yet strip the USAF of all Tactical Army Support Aircraft, if the keep this up.

There isn't a viable replacement anywhere and might not ever be. You literally cannot kill the Warthog and it's the ground troop's best friend

Troopers LOVE the Hog for a reason. Their pilots LOVE them for a reason. They were purposely designed and magnificently built for the role of attack and close air-support. I haven’t seen a more modern submission that truly replicates its capabilities.
