This was one of the only moments Carrie was able to be herself and be happy. This scene was so well done in showing us this with just Sissy Spacek’s acting and the swelling score. So heartbreaking that the happiness only lasted for a few minutes for her.

But when we see Chris, that’s when we realize that it’s all just a sick prank because she never learns her lesson. NEVER MESS WITH PEOPLE IN A BAD WAY!

Carrie was the most Beautiful Woman there. She had a smile from ear to ear. She finally felt like she fit in for the first time only to have it all destroyed.

This was the exact moment thought she had it all until it was ruined

I always kind of wished that the end credits would have played alongside a still shot of the photograph that the guy with glasses took at the end of this scene.

i love this movie. but in 1976 the packed house i saw this with laughed through the artsy-fartsy camera work, the endless slow motion at the prom (seems like it took Carrie and Tommy 20 minutes to get to the stage) the spinning camera around the slow dance between the couple - they especially laughed at Carries batshit mom. then at the end Carrie grabs Sue's arm and the entire audience screamed - loud. best jump scare ever.

I love sissy spacek here. Her beauty radiates, also illuminating her fragility and vulnerability

The movie for the most part was all chill and games, looked like it was gonna have a happy ending but that would be too cliché, the end caught me off guard when i was watching this in Telecine channel
