I have driven all over the US (I live in Minnesota), and I don't recall ever seeing dots to divide lanes (maybe they are a west coast thing as I have not travelled out there much). But I now hate them. US road lines generally make sense. There are two colors, yellow and white. Yellow divides traffic going different directions and white divides same direction.
Then there are a few types of lines:
- Single dashed means that switching between lanes if permitted (dashed yellow is usually on 2 lane roads so you can pass slower traffic).
- Single solid means crossing it is discouraged but allowed
- Double solid means that crossing it is not allowed (they can be both white or yellow)

The editing in this video is too good. I was very concerned at first because I thought that was actual footage of Toycat getting squished. Real blockbuster level CGI here, had my heart racing at every turn.

You Brits are so proud of your roundabouts. I've tried to tell ya'll that we DO have them here occasionally, roundabouts are not a foreign concept to us and you don't need to explain them to us like we're kids lmao

I'm very proud of the fact I learned to drive in NYC, technically I learned to drive on a particularly long road trip from Vermont to NYC but I spent my later teens and adult life fighting traffic in midtown Manhattan to get to my apartment on the west side haha

For the last few years, due to covid most American drivers didn't even need to take a drivers test. The parents just needed to sign a waiver to say their kid is good, and every parent wants their kid to be driving so they all sign it. It's somewhat terrifying how many potentially awful drivers are on the road.

As someone not from the US, I can confirm I turn into a Champagne bottle while I drive whenever I see a British person

I had to look up the term "Botts' Dots" because I'd never heard of nor seen such things (I thought when you said bots, it was referring to autonomous vehicles) In my part of the US, all lane markings are painted, and reflectors are recessed within the pavement, otherwise the snowplows would destroy them.

I think one of the reasons US road signage seems to assume people don't know how to drive is a lot of the rules are decided individually by each state. While they're mostly similar, there's enough variation that it's not safe to assume every driver knows how to navigate an intersection if they're licensed from another state. Even then, people will always fail to read the signs.

and remember.. The only traffic offense that is a crime is Driving under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs. Breaking any speed limits or crossing any lanes or even hitting a pedestrian by accident are all just pay to play in the US 😜 Lol

Check out the hwy 93/95/11 overpass at Horizon drive in Henderson. When they restructured it into a "diverging diamond", it caused quite a bit of confusion (see: collisions).

The dots are great for nighttime driving and are normally used as such. However, living in Vegas, they are used as substitutions for the lines. Once they paint the lines on, they don't last long in the desert. I guess it's the sun 🌞 I truthfully hate not having the lines.

"This is a desert with a lot of money rolling into it and they want to show that off" are just the Arab Gulf states and Ashgabat, Turkmenistan in a nutshell. I mean Ashgabat has the highest density of white marble buildings by far.

Southwest PA drivers are very patient with out of state drivers because we understand the problem of needing to just know which lane to be in, because we encounter it every time we try to go somewhere we usually don’t.

As a local, there’s a saying in my area that goes “if you can learn to drive in Vegas, you’ll be able to drive anywhere”

Wait, so in Britain there's no turning cars and people crossing at the same time? I'm not even American and this is pretty common
