A heads up to Joel and Lia, if a driver does a favor for you like letting you merge into his lane, give him a wave. Just raising your arm so he can see it is enough. Enjoy your videos!

Joel did an amazing job driving. I could NOT drive on the opposite side of what I'm used to as well as he just did. Well done!

I remember back in my 20s I had a friend that had recently emigrated to here in Atlanta from England. Once I was chatting with her dad and noticed he had bruised knuckles on his left hand. I asked him about it and he laughed sheepishly, saying that because he was still getting used to the gear shift being on his right, he kept automatically reaching toward the left from muscle memory (he was in his late 40s and had been driving since his teens). And so he was always just basically punching the car door as a result. Poor guy! 😆

Loved how Lia discreetly made the sign of the cross before Joel took off. Too funny!
I never thought anything about how communities in the US are continuously being developed out of previously undeveloped land while the UK stays pretty much the same. In 10 years many areas here become almost unrecognizable with the expansion.

The fact that Joel is aware of the slow lane puts him in the top 1% of good drivers in my state. Most of the time I'm yelling at some slowpoke in the fast lane while passing them in the slow lane. That's almost as frustrating as driving down the interstate when in one lane a truck is going 65 mph, and the dude in the fast lane is going 65.2 mph while the speed limit is 75, and you can't pass either of them. Welcome back!!! When's the Route 66 vlog series start now that Joel can drive in America?

Just to be clear, Joel, you can proceed right at a stop light AFTER you’ve come to a complete stop and ensure no one is coming!! In many cities, you can also turn left at a stoplight IF you’re turning left onto a one-way street.

Joel reminds me of the first time I drove in the UK. First thing I did driving out of the airport was go the wrong way around a roundabout. 🤣

From Florida Here! I learned when we bought our first house that almost all florida houses are made from a wood frame because you have to use cinderblocks for most of the build to protect from hurricane winds and damage. The material cost is way too high to use both brick frame+cinderblock so most homes have wood frame+cinderblocks.

Lia's face when in the first two minutes Joel says "We're going to crash".😨 Too funny. Safe travels. Love you both! Welcome back!!🤩🥰

As an American that hadn't driven a manual transmission since I was a teenager, driving a stick shift in Ireland when I was in my mid 60s was a trip.

I love driving in the US, much less stressful. I'm actually flying to the US in 3weeks and driving from Tampa to Corpus Christi to visit friends and then back to Tampa to have a week relaxing in the sun before flying back home in the UK. Great driving Joel !

The key to driving in Florida is to just imagine you're in Mad Max: Fury Road. Especially on I-4 and especially between MCO and any of the theme parks.

Lia definitely giving off "mom energy" in this video.

This is my first video with you guys, and I can say as an American this is EXACTLY how stressed I would be driving in Britain! Definitely a test of your relationship as well with this kind of stress, but you both did a good job and this was a great video!

I drove for the first time in the UK in a manual transmission car!! The first day every time I went to shift I kept hitting the door! 😂😂 So used to shifting with my right hand! I was more worried about shifting than driving on the opposite side of the road!! By the second day I was doing much better! You did a great job!! Leaving the airport is always the toughest part! Safe Travels!! ❤️

LOL, watching this is like watching my parents drive but without the cursing.

I went to the Caymans and drove “British” style for a week. I screamed so often thinking I was going to run into another car. I also constantly turned on the windshield wipers instead of the turn signal since they are backwards. Was fun though!

As someone who emigrated from the UK to to Northern California, I can so relate to everything Joel is concerned about. Lia is an excellent co-pilot. Because of earthquakes, our homes are built from wood as it’s a natural product and gives during the shake, rattling and rolling, depending on the type of earthquake. In San Francisco and probably California in general, I reinforced masonry is illegal as it can crumble and kill people.

I love y'all YouTube channel and I'm from Camden New Jersey just over the bridge from Philadelphia and 30 minutes away from Delaware and dress warm because it's going to be really cold outside

Kudos for driving. I would NEVER attempt to drive on the left side. I'd be in an accident within minutes!
