Donated XBOX 360 Slim | Repair, Refurb, Re-Paste

I was donated a broken XBOX 360 Slim. The main component that wasn’t working was the DVD drive but since this is a restoration project I fully dissasemble the whole console and give it a deep clean. Additionally, I show how to remove the heat sink and re-apply brand new thermal paste. So the question is, can I make this XBOX 360 Slim look and work like new?! Full XBOX 360 Slim TEARDOWN, step by step!

I got into modding consoles by fixing old broken ones too - my childhood gameboy suffered from pretty bad battery corrosion, but I was able to fix it after watching some YT videos, which then led me to seeing how relatively easy modding was, and here I am, thousands of dollars later lol. Great video as always, Tito!

4:14 an easy way to access this tab is removing the sticker. It has a hole near the Dolby Digital logo, just put something like a paper clip and it releases the latch. Doing as shown works too but it can scratch the plastic

wow this is perfect, ive been finding these discarded 360 Slims at a local record shop for less than $10, and they are all very similar to this one. just needs a bit of love and most of them will work!

There exists insulation foam tape for insulating doors and whatnot at any home improvement store. Should work fine for this. Just measure your width and foam depth and buy a roll of it.

Man I did this like two months ago and I really struggled with those tabs on the back lol I wish I had waited for this. Great video as always, I'd love to see a RGH vid in the future or a PS3 Slim restoration.

Very timely, I just acquired one of these slim consoles. Very nice that I don't have to go searching for a good tear down video.

It was really satisfying to watch you clean and patch up this 360, and was a good reminder for me to give some love to my older consoles as well.

Thanks for another great video, even if I was a little sad that you didn't say T 10 Torx screw another fifteen times during reassembly! 😂

Great video Tito. Brings back memories of the 3 xbox 360s i went through with RRoD. Sadly they are deep in my family garage 9000km away. I am trying to gift them to a friend who will do a restoration and repair. Long live the 360. Please do a 360 controller repair and upgrade in future videos.

Found the video and the channel out today, because Youtube recommended this one to me.
Great video, subscribed.

Though I have to disagree when you say "a 360 without a disc tray may as well be a massive paperweight" lol

There is something therapeutic about watching you disassemble, clean, and reassemble the 360 back to working condition.

I own a Japanese X360 launch model, and I bought a PAL version of the slim (looked exactly like this one) to play games that were locked to the PAL region.
Many of the X360 games were region free so I survived on my Japanese console. But Gears of War 3 was locked so bought my slim to play that.

Unfortunately I was burgled and they took the slim console, but left the older fat console which I still have to this day. Had to disassemble it a couple of years ago due to the same issue - the drive didn't eject. Turned out to be the rubber eject belt that needed boiling and the drive itself needed cleaning (especially where the belt touched; it gets dusty and oily over time).

Enjoyed the video!

I begin to watch your vídeos just a few days and I'm loving the quality and how patient you are.

Good video, I do what you do and look for broken consoles, mainly when the disc drives don't work as that's the easiest fix for me at the moment as I learn more and more. Plus if something has a USB port or memory card slot, you can pretty much make anything work again one way or another.

Great video! I have a 360 Slim that quit connecting to controllers. I also have one with a stuck disk tray. Looks like it’s time to tear them down and do a refurb. I can see you take your time and do it the right way. So I will be following this video to tear them down.

RGH mod next? You don't need a glitch chip anymore, just a raspberry pi pico to overwrite de nand (some models) and a postfix (some models)

One of the things you can do with a finicky DVD is to remove the belt and boil it for a couple of minutes keeping it off the bottom of the pan, this restores some of the elasticity so that it doesn't slip, or you can simply find replacements as the belt is often time one of the biggest issues with these. I RGH'd 2 then converted to RGH 3 on mine. I put a 2 TB drive in it and no longer have to switch disks and since I don't play it online as I have a Series X for that it makes for a better experience.

The honor was all mine. If anything I want to thank you for helping me clear out my garage. Sometimes I feel like I am drowning in broken consoles over here! 🤣
