Back to the Future's time travel rules is that new time lines can be created. So, in the original timeline he wrote the song all by himself. In the new timeline, Marty inspired him to write what he would have eventually written anyway. That's the way I always viewed it.

The original version that Marty knows and played is no longer in existence. After Chuck heard it, he created a new version. Based on the parts he heard. Since he didn't hear the entire thing, he used his musical experience to complete it, possibly having already been working on it.

For all we know, the end where Marty goes crazy was actually part of the original; however, seeing how people reacted, Marvin suggests Chuck not include it.

Chuck Berry really creates the song. Marty goes back in time and now Chuck creates the song again just from a different inspiration. He would have been inspired either way

Chuck never heard the intro on the phone which is arguably the most iconic part of the song
