Do WiFi 5 devices get faster internet with WiFi 6 router?
We all have way more WiFi 5 and WiFi 2.4 devices than WiFi 6 devices so is there any reason to upgrade our router to a WiFi 6 router now?
Will your WiFi 5 devices get a boost in internet speed and get faster WiFi?

This is what I set to find out where I compared WiFi 5 devices vs. WiFi 6 devices on both WiFi 5 and WiFi 6 router at close range to the router (less than 1m - 3.2f) and far from the router (about 10m - 32f)

The speed test at the start wasn't testing wifi speed, it was testing Internet speed. Also running them at the same time would have messed up the results.

I got a wifi 6 router and we decided to make the change so that we wouldn't have to change it later. At the time I was also making changes in my PC, I put a wifi 6 PCIE wifi card and I did notice a difference, my speed went up by 60 mbps and my speeds were more stable and consistante. I am just letting people know my experience with a wifi 6 router.

Thanks, Liron. Another very interesting video. Yes, please, I would love to see the difference with a Wi-Fi 6 mesh network. I'm grateful for you doing all these tests.

Thanks for the video. Finally thinking of using a router that isn't the free one from my ISP and whoa there is more to this than I initially thought.

Wi-fi 6 has a burst capability that sends data to all devices at the same time rather than sequentially so less delay when many devices connected.

I didn't buy my first WiFi 6 router until I got my first WiFi 6 device, knowing it wouldn't make my WiFi 5 devices any faster. In fact, my TiVo Edge's WiFi 5 max performance actually got a little bit slower than it's max performance my old WiFi 5 router. But, the slight drop in speed admittedly isn't noticeable (Went from 2166 MBPs to 1733 Mbps), and there were times with the old router where it would regularly drop to half speed, whereas the new router consistently stays at 1733 Mbps with the Edge. That said, you shouldn't even consider splurging on a WiFi 6 until you have at least 2 or 3 WiFi 6 devices in your household first.

Great video.

While I disagree with the people leaving disrespectful comments, I do agree that there are a couple of issues with the testing/concepts. I appreciate the fact that the video is aimed at normal users, but I don't think it actually illustrated to strength of wifi 6.

Wifi 6's big selling point is aggregation, not speed. So actually we need a lot more devices running at once and doing something up and down stream intensive, like making a zoom call.

Lastly, I'm not going to grill you on it; I know what you meant by "wifi 2.4." But it might confuse the people who don't know yet.

Liron, I've been crushing your channel and learning a lot. Here's my question. I'm a heavy competitive gamer and Lag is my issue. Spectrum is my provider and I've call many times to have my port forwarding spec's changed for my COD, Steam, Blizzard games so nat is open. Mine is moderate still. Can you do a video for gamers. Modem, router setups? Thanks. I love you content so far!

Excellent test, Liron. What I was thinking of doing is getting a wi-fi 6 router and extend network to my wi-fi 5 router. (Mixed routers) ....how about running that test. If figure why not...best of both worlds 😀

Not sure if you've done replicates of each trial, but if you're presenting data like this that can have high variance, it would be nice to include error bars from replicate trials.

Since most of my devices only support WiFi 5, i'mma get WiFi 6😁

Hi, I read in the Internet that wifi 5 devices are compatible with wifi 6, but those devices won't get any advantage of wifi 6, but this video show the contrary, because it does get a big boost, is my understanding correct?

Doesn't the device also make a difference in the speed? Are the 2 phones you used running the same processors?

Agree with your Final opinion on this Video

I've just had a wifi 6 router installed and my mobile is not wifi 6 compatible. So all I keep getting is constant buffering. There is a mixed mode setting on the router so it outputs wifi 5 and 6 but that did not make any difference. Any suggestions??
