“It’s a memory to me” talking about enjoyment is a harrowing statement

That's a pretty poetic way to put it. I don't take steroids but I'm anxious every morning, scared of the rest of the day... It's shitty to constantly feel that way

Honestly the first honest body builder I have seen. Much respect for just telling it like it is

to be THAT honest AND articulate about such a niche experience is incredible.

From what he says he seems mentally a really strong guy to be able to rationalize so much his emotions to not been taken away by them

Depression is very similar to this, I remember that awful fogginess I got my sophomore year of high school where I went from being top of my class to average and I could barely get out of bed and nothing seemed to bring me joy anymore. It's a living hell.

I'm a schizophrenic and the 'fog'/muted emotions from my antipsychotics is 100% like he described. Not the anger, but my emotions are muted and what I like I know I like, but I only experience them as a memory of what they were before. I've legitimately never heard it described so well and I'm stealing it.

There is something so satisfying seeing somebody be so incredibly candid and matter-of-fact about something that feels like is so often covered up. Like yeah we have all these influencers and professionals talking about the negatives of steroids, but it's an entirely different thing to have somebody who has been on steroids for a while speak as honestly as they possibly can about how exactly it ruins their daily life.

Knowing that you like something but it feels like a memory is what depression is like. Inability to feel the thing you know feels good...even inner peace.

"I'm not as smart right now" and yet bro is cooking with words harder than a michelin chef.

I don't hear people talk about the negative mental side of steroids enough. This is good information

This guy should do some voice acting - his voice is amazing for giving it to charismatic villans

I dated a body builder before, and he took steroids whenever hes competing, and what this guy said explained alot as to what happened to me that lead to our breakup. He was always full of rages, emotionless, i felt sorry for him but i am sorry i had to leave him, its taken the toll on me too

"A marked proximate reduction of IQ" yet he could articulate and express his thoughts like a best-seller writer, I can't imagine what he would sound like at his peak. Truly an astounding individual.

It's such a shame that in pursuit of a "strong body" you lose your sense of self.

I have PTSD and with that I know your adrenal glands can basically become kind of stuck open because your mind and body still have you in fight or flight mode. This is what that feels like and I've never really been able to put it to words so thank you!

The fact that one can be so aware of the harm they’re causing themselves and still be willing to do it is scary to me. We need to take better care of ourselves- for the ones around us.
