Hard Drive Connector Types Explained! - SAS, SATA, SCSI, FC, IDE
Показать описание
What are the different types of hard drive connector and why you should need to know? In this video guide we have explained in details.
There are three main types of Hard Drive interface including IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) also known as ATA or PATA (parallel ATA), SATA (Serial ATA), and SCSI (Small Computer System Interface).
IDE drives consists of a 40-pin connector attached to a flat ribbon cable. The jumper on ATA hard drives can be configured as master or slave. 40 Pin Connecter IDE Drive Types are ATA-33, ATA-66, ATA-100, and ATA-133.
SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) drives are widely used in workstations, servers, and mainframes. SCSI drives cables are usually used ribbons with two or more 50–, 68–, or 80–pin connectors attached. The 80–pin Single Connector Attachment (SCA) is typically used for hot-plugged devices.
80-Pin Connector SCSI Drives Types are Ultra2 Wide, Ultra-160, and Ultra-320.
68-Pin Connector SCSI Drives are smaller than 80 Pin SCSI drives.
68-Pins SCSI Drives Types are Fast Wide, Ultra Wide, Ultra2 Wide, Ultra-160, and Ultra-320
SATA is short for Serial ATA (which is an abbreviation for Serial Advanced Technology Attachment). Types of 7-Pin Connector SATA Drives are available in the capacity of 1Gpbs, 1.5Gpbs, 3Gbps, and 6Gbps.
SAS stands for Serial Attached SCSI, which are faster and more reliable than SATA drives. SAS drives are used for Enterprise Computing where high speed and performance are important. Types of 29-Pin / 32-Pin Connector SAS Drives available in the capacity of 3Gbps, 6Gbps and 12Gbps.
