This video is very informative! I just think there is a mistake in your explanation, because clusters are not the smallest possible data on your hdd. Since clusters consist of different sectors, a sector is therefore the smallest possible data block on your hdd. Please correct me if I am wrong. I really loved this video! Thanks!

Very detailed explanation. But one question,

7:30 On the Platter Structure part, you mention that a sector is a basic unit of storage.

8:15 But then the video calls clusters, which are groups of sectors, the smallest unit of storage possible.


How can that be if clusters are made of sectors, which are smaller units of storage?

I have one question and my question is :-
As you say in the video that there can be 1 or more platters in hdd than how spindle can adjust because it can't have virtical space . So please solve my doubt.

The disk drive does not implement clusters; it is a concept implemented in the file system. As I recall, I've been retired from writing firmware for SCSI/SAS disk drives for a decade, we used the terms physical block address (PBA) and logical block address (LBA). The PBA is the location of the data on the disk, LBA is what the system specifies. The drive convert LBA to PBA by taking into account such as reallocated blocks.
