Birds have the best vision. They can see in all colours you can but 10x better. Plus they can see on negative and UV :)

Dogs have smell-a-vision. Their vision is to augment their sense of smell. They can smell things around corners, or inside of things that we can't see. So even if their vision isn't the same as us, they have a unique advantage that gives them a dimension of sensing the environment that goes way beyond what we can. To them, color is not as important as how things smell. To us, with our limited amount of smell, we're dependent on color to give us additional clues about our environment. But that is a poor trade off for the lack of smell that dogs have.

I'm pretty sure they can see red, often times dogs I've worked with or had as pets will choose a red toy over the other colors like yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, etc. It would also reason to make sense really if you think about it, since in the wild their prey would bleed red it would be a good color to be able to take note of aside from just smelling it.

I cant believe this really... I taught my dogs to show colours that I tell them. They tip with the nose on the right colour. Its never been a problem for them to even tell apart light green and dark green, for example. They know lots of different shades now and are still learning more. They can show 16 colours correctly at the moment and never make any mistakes - it seems so easy for them!
