A dog is the best companion a human can ever hope for. Unless you have had that bond you will never know. The cruelty that is inflicted on these amazing animals never ceases to infuriate me, the forgiveness that they show is second to none. You are your dog's world, make the most of every day you can with them as their life span is far too short 🐶

I recently lost my pup of nine years. I have NEVER felt more devastated in my life! I’m 56 and have experienced bad stuff in life, but absolutely NOTHING crushed me more. Yes, humans best friend.

I can tell you with certainty that dogs remember you even after a Long separation. I’m a veteran that was away from home for 2 years. My dogs were extremely excited just hearing me come up the driveway. They practically tackled me when I walked through the door and wouldn’t leave my side for several days.

It's a bond that has transcend time, I have read moving epitaphs written by ancient Romans to their companions when they pass away. Here's my favorite: "My eyes were wet with tears, our little dog, when I bore thee (to the grave)... So, Patricus, never again shall thou give me a thousand kisses. Never canst thou be contentedly in my lap. In sadness have I buried thee, and thou deservist. In a resting place of marble, I have put thee for all time by the side of my shade. In thy qualities, sagacious thou wert like a human being. Ah, me! What a loved companion have we lost!"

My special girl, Piper, passed at age 18. I have never been more devastated in my life. I’m 57 years old, so I’ve suffered loss. Losing her absolutely gutted me. I was so privileged to be her human. Rest easy precious pup.

Unconditional love. If only humans were anything like dogs☺️

I lost my 13 year old shih tzu a few months ago. I've dealt with it successfully. But now, I find myself watching dog videos all day long. Dogs when given a proper education will be the best and most loyal companion you'll ever have.

A dog is the only relative you get to choose! We are most definitely family! ❤❤❤

Any time I was away from home - say in the Army, on my calls home I would get my wife to hold the phone up and I'd call my Weimaraner dog and he would immediately start a look in the house to find me; coming back to the phone to check if somehow I was "in there". I'd talk to him, tell him how much I was missing him and my wife would say that his tail was wagging flat-out! He most certainly recognised my voice. Reminds me of the old gramophone label - His Master's Voice [HMV] which had a little Terrier looking into the horn of a gramophone; one of the best visual labels I have seen.

This is bizarre, we can guess all we want but the truth is we have no idea how dogs look at us other than unconditional love.

I love how the narrator describes what dogs are thinking. Makes me feel so good about being my dog’s mommy.

This made me tear up. It reminded me of all the dogs my grandma had when i was growing up. We had this dog named Maggie and she was over 20 years old when she died (older than i was at the time) she died last year and even tho she was technically my grandma's dog she loved me and my brother just as much as her and she will forever be missed. Rest in paradise Maggie we all love you 🥹🥹

"Soulful stares" - nobody looks at me so lovingly as my dog when I'm puting on my walking shoes, as she knows we're going for a walk 😅

No, they see us as everything good in life.

Dogs don't see us as dogs, they see us as something else. If you mimic them, like panting or barking, they will try to stop you ^^

My dog and I are a perfect unit. We do just about everything together. It has been the easiest most natural relationship I've ever had.
