For irons, rescues and fairway woods, I focus about two inches in front of the ball and almost four to five inches in front for driver. Been using this for two years and just for kicks, I tried to go back to focusing on the back of the ball a month or two ago and really struggled to make good contact. Never would have tried this technique until I saw a Bobby Clampett Impact Zone video on YT.

I agree totally with this. It really does work at least for me. I never look at the ball. I look at a blade of grass 2 inches in front for irons and 4 inches behind for driver. I have used foot powder on my clubs to see where I strike the face and consistently strike it better when I don't look at the ball. Not sure why, but I do.

When hitting my Driver I focus on the tee. Since doing that I compress the ball a lot more and it has improved my consistency with hitting the ball high on the face, optimal for drivers these days. It has improved my driving tremendously.

I've used the looking in front on the irons for years....works great if you are chubby on the chips too... going to try focusing on a spot behind for the driver... never tried that before but makes sense

The only time I really focus on part of the ball is from a fairway bunker and focus on the front edge. It seems to work 99% of the time and I have confidence from the sand. Need to try this technique on all shots.

Back of the ball.

Golf, like with some other sports, is about hand - eye coordination. The best golfers have excellent hand- eye coordination. They focus on the back of the ball and try to see the club hit it. On every shot, Driver to putter, Only exception is sand where you hit behind the ball, then focus on that spot. As my Pro told me when he gave me that lesson..Golf is a simple game, it's just complicated between the ears.
