How to Open or Mount VMDK Disk Files to Recover Data without VMware Workstation

Показать описание
VMDK disk files are used with VMware to store the data or file structure of your virtual machines. If you have a VMDK file and no VM to open it or do not have VMware Workstation or Player installed on your computer, then there is still a way to open the VMDK file or mount it on your computer as a drive with its own drive letter. Once you do this, you can then access the files and folders contained within the VMDK file and even copy them to your computer.

Here is the download link for 7-Zip.

Here is the link for OSFMount.

Check out our book (VMware Workstation Made Easy) that is designed to take your virtualization skills to the next level!

Thank you for the video! I tried ur method but my VMDK was corrupted so I had to use TestDisk but the OSFMount part was really crucial to help me out. Thank you, got my files back!

Hi, I have a mvdk file which mounts properly in mvware, but I would look like to transfer the info to a separate ssd and install it in a spare laptop so that it boots from there… is that possible?

Great Video. I tried following your steps but I was greeted with an error. "This file does not have a app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Setting page. I have my VMDK file saved to my desktop. Any ideas? I'm a novice :)
