2023-2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid Review

Ford still can't build enough Maverick and Maverick Hybrids to meet demand and it's easy to see why. Ford's smallest truck, and the smallest truck in America, checks all the right boxes. It looks great, the bed is practical, it's roomy enough inside and if you treat the pedals gently you'll be rewarded with an honest to goodness 40 MPG.

They were never making enough of these. My dealer had 2 on the lot, “used” $10k over MSRP under 100 miles.

I love this truck for the fact it's unique in its segment. Small trucks were dead and now they're slowing making their way back. I just hope its success will bring more competition for small compact trucks in the future

Last month I finally picked up a '23 Maverick hybrid after ordering it 13 months ago. I got it for 1% under invoice too but had to travel 3 hours away. The deals are certainly out there. You just have to know where and wait a looong time.

As plain as these are inside and out, Ford really hit the nail on the head with the hybrid option. I’m surprised Hyundai didn’t make a hybrid option of the Santa Cruz right off the bat. I’d actually buy that one over the Maverick if it were a hybrid.

Bought one of the first ones in my state. Went to a dealer that refuses to add to the sticker price. I frequently get 50mpg, but you have to remember to put it into eco mode. When you exit the vehicle, it resets. Get back in, have to re set back into eco mode. The only thing I do not like is the lack of built in navi. You are dependent on the Ford connect to your screen. This is a terrible interface, but it's terrible in all the Ford's . We had two cmaxs in the family and same problem. The bed is awesome, even though it's little. I do a lot of gardening, camping, etc, and it is nice to keep the mess outside. Great ride, super purchase.

I bought a hybrid 18 months ago, and last month I got my second hybrid Maverick. Ford made me a fan boy!!! Nothing negative I can say other than the grabby brakes on my first one only!

I ordered my 2024 hybrid in August. Going into production the week of February 12. Paying $32k for XLT. So far so good. My co worker got his as his according to Fords email. Our local dealership isn’t marking up any vehicles.

I gave up on the Maverick. Besides the list price most dealerships are adding a premium of $5000 on the sticker. Forget it. Stick to Japanese/Korean.

You couldn't equip the Black Appearance Package with the Spray in Bedliner because the BAP requires the Luxury Package, which in turn includes the Drop In Bedliner. The system doesn't seem to let you upgrade the Lux package to the spray in liner for the difference in cost. It's just an oddity with the way they've included the bedliner as part of a package. On the Lariat trim, the spray in liner is included with the Lux package instead of the drop in, so you can get the BAP and spray in liner together if you go up to the top trim level.

I'm finalizing my paperwork tomorrow & driving mine home Saturday. So....@#$&ing stoked! Did my research & Ford knocked it out of the park IMO. Literally my dream vehicle. I'm watching this just for fun🎉

Hybrid Mavericks are good for the 99% of the time you need a normal vehicle and the 1% of the time you need to do light truck things. However, if you're the type that *needs to be serious about using your vehicle to do actual truck things*, just buy a low mileage used F-150 and call it a day.

We have had our 2023 Maverick Lariat Luxury hybrid for just under two weeks — after having ordered in September of 2022. So far, we love it. Our dealer played no games with the price — we were told $500 below MSRP when we ordered and that’s what we paid.

The first full tank of gas yielded 39.3 mpg (hand calculated) with a mix of freeway driving, country roads, a little around town, including hauling a bunk bed set about 75 miles along the way. For that trip the 45 degree tailgate and a 2x6 in the forward bed slot made loading out no problem and all the tie downs meant it was easy to restrain the load.

I agree with most of the reviewer’s comments on handling and so forth including that on the freeway it doesn’t feel nearly as stiff as it does at lower speeds. There has a been a service bulletin for the grabby brakes issue he talked about. I would expect recent builds of both power trains will have that resolved.

The Lariat with CoPilot 360 has adaptive cruise control and it works very nicely. I’ve only rented vehicles with this feature before, but on our Maverick I will be using it a great deal as this will be our road trip vehicle (Kia Soul EV for most around-town stuff). If things go according to plan we’ll have put several multi-day road trips on it by this time next year, so will better be able to assess it then.

Yeah, I wish 4WD was an option on the hybrid….and I’d like to see a plugin hybrid version with, say 50 miles of electric range. But that’s for later.

What a great little vehicle. Reminds me of a more back-to-basics version of my old Sport Trac.

They should've prioritized making more of these with the hybrid motor. It's a shame it's not the base engine anymore.

It's no longer a bargain at $30, 600 for the XLT.

Even the base XL hybrid is going for nearly $26k now...
Taxes and dmv fees you're looking at nearly thirty grand for a base one

Just picked up a 24 Lariat in Cactus Gray with Black package and sunroof. Amazing little truck, and I got a new set of cargo straps and gloves ha.

Seems odd that they have forward collision but no adaptive cruise. I assume other features like lane keeping is also missing. Considering the price safety features should be included, especially since the price keeps going up.
