Who Makes More Money: Married Guys or Single Guys?

How I got here…

21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.

Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).

To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.

You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.

Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.

Never quit,

Alex

*FULL DISCLOSURE*
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

Man with 2 kids. This is what I take from this. Having more kids doesn't make you richer. But it sure as hell makes you want to be.

Marriage and kids unlock successively deeper levels of potential in a man. It's love, not only an intellectual choice, that spurs us men on to grow and earn.

I say this as a husband of 22 years to the same woman. We have 8 children together.

Everything I am, whatever that is, is because my love for my family drove to to grow and earn. I didn't want to fail them.

"In Life you either need INSPIRATION, or DESPERATION"....Desperation is a MUST, inspiration is rare.

Facts. I wasn’t highly motivated to earn six figures until I got married and had two kids.

I question the line of causation here. Do married men make more money, or do men who make more money feel more comfortable getting married and having kids?

Making money is not equal to saving money. If you have not fixed your finances when you are single, you will have to do it married. It is harder that way.

Confounder is age. Income increases with age and older man are the ones with kids. Most people don't understand how to interpret data though. That includes Hormozi

A better question might be: As a single person, how can we find the same motivation to make money as a married man with four or more kids?

So true. When I was married with no kids I wasn’t making shit but I was comfortable and complacent. Fast forward I got 2 kids in private school and I’m busting my ass and making more money than I ever thought I could. When you have other people that depend on you, you make it happen. Often times we don’t make it happen simply for ourselves.

You're looking at it backwards. It's not that men with families make more money. It's that men with more money make families. Most women don't choose to make a family with broke men, and the more money you have, the more women will be interested in you, hence why rich people have families.

Its not just that simplistic, there are bisses to single people and those without kids, people genuinely discriminate in who they help if they find out youre married and have kids

Married Man work more hours and get more money but the Single Guy has more money saved while the Married is working crazy OT and all the money is going to providing for Family and Bills

But how does he draw this causation conclusion? Maybe it’s just they’re older and have had more time to climb the ladder?

Most men want more for them selves but are not driven to have more for them selves.
