My homelab has been built upon for the last 7 years. It originally started off as an fx8350 with 32gb ram and some spare ssd's. It was a whitebox ESXi host.

Now, present day, that fx8350 box has a 10gb fiber nic in it, its a truenas server, and its serving 10gb storage to my esxi cluster (2x c240 m3s's with 500GB of ram) and 10gb vmotion.

ive learned switching with my dell power connect 5424 and 5524, ive learned routing and firewalling with pfsense, ive deployed domains, SCCM, VPNs, VDI, WSUS, VEEAM, and a number of other technologies in my lab. Ive had things fail catastrophically and had to learn to recover from backups, ive done migrations and upgrades...

Its the smallest price to pay for a wealth of knowledge, fun times (and stressful times), and pay increases. I thank the Lord for my homelab

Hey Emilio - can you make a certification guide on the rode to becoming a sys admin. Looking at the Microsoft Modern Desktop Admin since it seems to be the replacement of the MSCA. But I don’t have a clear path on study resource to up my knowledge in the necessary direction from desktop support to sys admin. Thanks!!

Great video! I bought a type 1 running VMware esxi 6.7 and have been practicing making Windows 10s and a few Linuxs. Need more detailed instruction tho. Will any tutorials be going to Skillshare because I'm already on that platform? Glad to see you on Skillshare and I'm following you there. Thanks

Hello Everyone,

I am working on changing careers (from Warehouse/inventory work to IT). I am working on my CompTIA ITF+ certification and I am looking into creating a Home Lab. Any advice on a good starter setup would be greatly appreciated! I hope to use it for the learning / certification process and for future work. Thanks!

Friendly suggestion:
1. I suggest not asking for likes and subscribes on the beginning of the video. It's annoying and makes me want to skip the whole video.
2. Get to the point. Don't waste my time please.
